Court Grants Parents Permission to Sterilize 11-Year-Old {ParentDish}

Mar 10th 2010 7:09PM michelle - it's sad to hear a woman so mis-understand how a woman's body works - but i guess it should come as no surprise given the abstinence only sex ed taught in this country. i don't fault you for not knowing the name of the procedure it is called endometrial ablation, which DOES remove the lining of the uterus - it is not always 100% successful; also, it does NOT stop ovulation as you claim, to stop ovulation you MUST induce menopause by removing the ovaries (the parts of a woman's body that produces eggs) that procedure is called an oophorectomy...(i'm a former ob/gyn nurse)...you really should know the parts of your own body and what they do...

Court Grants Parents Permission to Sterilize 11-Year-Old {ParentDish}

Mar 10th 2010 7:01PM it is, of course, a matter of interpretation...seems to me the parents ARE protecting her physically from her particular form of epilepsy and that should be the primary concern in this case; rather than whether this severely disabled girl should ever 1. need to have a uterus, let alone a menstrual period which i doubt she can scarcely understand, or 2. should ever *need* to get pregnant - which would only come about by way of rape as she is, probably, unable to comprehend such a process as sex or pregnancy...the doctor rightly recommended a hysterectomy for this girl's unfortunate situation...if she had severe uterine fibroids or uterine cancer a hysterectomy would not be an issue...

What's This Hullaballoo over AMC Theatres and 'Alice in Wonderland'? {Cinematical}

Feb 28th 2010 4:54PM i almost NEVER go to the theater...too noisy...too expensive... but as a life-long "alice" fan, this in the ONE movie i actually intend to see at the theater (the last movie i saw in a theater was "finding neverland")...if amc doesn't want my $$ for this, it's their loss, not mine...
