Kitten Rescue Operation Takes Two Days {Pawnation OLD}

Oct 17th 2009 1:23AM Pamela,

Had you had your cat spayed, you wouldn't have unwanted kittens. I have little to no sympathy for people in your situation. Many vets will neuter and spay for merely the cost of anesthesia, donating their time. Friends of Assissi charge based on your income/ability to pay. We have 9 cats sharing our house and their litter boxes with ferrets, a skunk, and a fox. Even though these are house cats, they have been neutered/spayed. Besides decreasibg the overpopulation of cats, did you realize neutering/spaying improves the health and longevity of your cats by preventing or decreasing susceptibility to certain cancers?

Just exactly who are you berating with your neuter/spay diatribe? We certainly agree with neutering and spaying but I do wonder who you were lambasting. There are many facets of responsible pet ownership and the neutering/spaying is just one. Little lucke is truly lucky. Ignorance and lack of responsibility show itself in many ways. Taran and I remind our children constantly "Never adopt a pet just because you want it on the spur of the moment; you are responsible for that life the rest of yours". Today I rescued a 10 month old foal -- Clydesdale/Percheron mix--who is about 600 pounds underweight, has open sores on her sides from laying in filthy straw because her hoof trims have been nonrxistent and she cannot stand properly for any length of time. This sad little beauty in now mine permanently, so ordered by the court system. The farrier and vet say in about a year she wuill recover completely.

There are always a few people like you in every crowd who have to play the "abortion card". Well, I have news for you: overall, those of us who make every effort possible to save lives like kittens, puppies, ducks, etc. are not the ones having abortions. HOWEVER, my wife and I are PRO-CHOICE, meaning it's none of our damn business should someone decide to terminate a pregnancy. This was a lovely story and we would give Lucky a home in a heartbeat. We have a large family--4 natural and 10 adopted children, 400 acres of beautiful Va mountain and pasture land, 40 registered show horses, 12 rescue horses, numerous cats, dogs, ferrets, rabbits, guinea pigs, a rescued Canadian goose, rescued skunk and deer and fox, chinchillas, a llama, dairy calf, 4 sheep, and 3 pygmy goats. Lucky would fit right in!!!!!!!!!

Heidi Klum Will Take Seal's Name {PopEater}

Oct 6th 2009 11:57PM Billy,

Did you skip high school civics class? A natural citizen is born in the specific country. My wife, born in Ireland, an I (born in Wales) are naturalized citizens of the U.S. In fact, we hold DUAL US and UK citizenships.

Heigl Shows Off Her Newly Adopted Baby {PopEater}

Sep 18th 2009 6:45AM Bonnie,

Making sure the home is ok has zero to do with it. It has to do with ADOPTION FEES. Many people would no money left to feed and clothe the entire family if they paid the exorbitant American adoption fees. Bottom line = money.

We love all our children, regardless of Nationality. We learned as we could about each country so we can teach our children about the countries of their birth so they will feel even more special -- "Your "Daddy and Mommy flew to Prague, etc. to get you when you were only xx old". We periodically return to each country for a learning vacation so we all can keep in touch wit their ethnic roots, and ours as well. I am from Caernarfon, Wales, my wife Galway, Ireland.

Sep 18th 2009 6:31AM The K,

I will tell you why adoptions occur outside the US ten times more often and it isn't merely celebrities. My wife and I wanted a very large family. I am an only child and daily begged for siblings. We have four naturally and the rest are adopted.

The adoption fees in the US are exorbitant. I can afford one in the US while overseas we can three children and have money for an Ivy League education down the road. Until the United States drops the elitism with adoptions, more and more children will be adopted from overseas.

And what is the big deal about where a baby comes from? Aren't orphans from overseas equally as deserving? My children were adopted from Albania, Bulgaria, Sarajevo, Kosovo, Ukraine, Russia, and the Czech Republic.

Friends of ours tried to adopt a baby from Appalachia last year. Both are teachers in Winchester, VA. Both have Master's degrees; she has taught 12 years, he 14. Their combined incomes still prevented the adoption. They adopted an infant female from China.

Elton John Prohibited From Adopting {PopEater}

Sep 15th 2009 7:39AM Gary, et. al...

Why isn't a civil union as equal and binding as a marriage? Just because some piece of historical and literary fiction states it isn't? My wife and I know gay and lesbian couples who have maintained stable, loving relationships far longer than many heterosexual couples. Just because a "bible-thumping lifestyle" is your choice, doesn't mean it's the only way. Personally, the God my Mum and Da worship is a Liberal, open-minded, all-loving kind, gentle God. Homosexuality is not a choice, Homosexuality will not "rub off" something akin to how whites believed black skin would back in primative, ignorant mindsets of early culture.'

It's also ignorant to believe a man in today's world is too old to be a father to an orphaned child. Discriminatorial laws such as this need to be stricken from the books. Some people in their 20s and 30s aren't fit to be parents.

Elton John Prohibited From Adopting {PopEater}

Sep 15th 2009 6:27AM Age should not even be considered as a criteria, nor should marital status. Health should be a primary factor. There are plenty of 20 and 30-somethings with majour health issues that make adoption more tenuous than the age consideration.

My wife and I adopted 2 children from Ukraine, 1 from Russia, 2 from Bosnia, 2 from Sarajevo, and 1 each from Albania and Bulgaria. The age conditions and/or requirements vary by country, I am 50, in good health, active and we had no problem adopting, Unfortunately, our income assured we would be adoption material in several countries and that should not be the primary reason a child can be adopted. Many prospective parents have the one component -- love--but lack the adoption fees. The system has inherent problems.

I do not believe Elton John and his partner are too old at all. Russia and Ukraine need desperately to find homes for surplus orphans and abandoned children and need to revamp their adoption laws. I believe Elton would make a wonderful parent.

Obama's Back-to-School Speech: The Prepared Text {Politics Daily}

Sep 7th 2009 5:20PM From some of the grammar and spelling, there are many on here who must have slept through their high school English/grammar/spelling classes. As this speech was directed to the students at Wakefield High School, I cannot imagine ANY student too ignorant to understand the message, unless they, too, slept their way through their classes. My upper elementary and middle school children understand it, so why is it so difficult for (supposedly) somewhat educated (I won't even utilize the term "erudite") adult to synthesize?

What is wrong with this country? When I first immigrated to the US from Wales, UK, I couldn't WAIT to get to the greatest country in the world. Now, it's an embarrassment. The open hatred of Americans toward those different, whether Nationality or Sexual Orientation, the anger and hatred directed toward the man who holds the nation's highest, most prestigious office. It's just this sort of anger, whether openly antagonistic or smoldering, building to a seething rage, that people fomenting hatred and animosity toward this nation look for and utilize. Our own behavior often comes back to bite us on the butt, but people are too caught up in their own vendettas, "causes", and agendas to even see what is happening.......until it's too late.

Oh, and Olga, Jefferson, Madison, the Adams family, Monroe, etc. are rolling over in their graves at the state-ment the Judeo-Christian Bible was their primary textbook. The elite who founded this government were NOT schooled with the Bible as primary textbook; they read classic literature, history, philosophy, studied art, mathematics, architecture, semantics, debate. The haves had what is called a "Classical Education" and those who could afford it, made certain their children had the same opportunities. Laura Ingalls Wilder and Little House on the Prairie were home-schooled and yes, Ma and Pa probably had them readin' and writin' and cipherin' all the words of the Good Book. (How quaint.)

Michelle Duggar Chats About Morning Sickness And Her In-House Organizer {ParentDish}

Sep 2nd 2009 4:09PM This woman is mentally ill. I see no problem with wanting a large family. I was an only child and always wanted a large family. However, the sane way was adoption, Since the Duggars are obviously NOT poor, they could have stopped breeding like a stallion and brood mare and offered other children a haven in their lives. God either creates all children or none of them. My wife and I have 4 children (our twins were unplanned due to the news my wife could never conceive after the seat belt in her car malfunctioned and she was catapulted through the windshield while pregnant with our second child. We have 14 lovely vivacious children running around hailing from Bosnia, Romania, Bulgaria, Albania, Sarajevo, Kosovo, and Ukraine. Some were war orphans in orphanages, others unwanted or abandoned due to poverty,

The Duggars would have benefitted many little lives had they chosen the adoption route rather than selfishly procreating like March Hares.
