Sorry, Middle and Youngest Kids -- Study Says Firstborns Are Smarter {Lemondrop}

Aug 17th 2010 8:21AM Based on my experience, I would agree with the study only to the point of IQ. There are other factors involving intelligence, such as Emotional Intelligence. While the first borns that I know can process and retain information much better than their younger siblings, the younger siblings have more common sense, are better grounded emotionally and overall are just as successful, if not more, than their elder sibling with the higher IQ. These tests are points of measurement - they should not be used to define people!

20 Million Homeowners Projected to Be Underwater by End of 2011 {Housingwatch}

Aug 6th 2010 12:22PM I really don't understand how SO MANY people found themselves in this situation. I realize that the lenders saw the borrowers coming a mile away and offered them crappy loans. However, the borrower was given a disclosure and signed their name to promise to pay the money back. If they couldn't afford the home or didn't have a nestegg set back for emergencies, that's their problem. The banks are greedy and the population as a whole is greedy (banks are run by a part of the population...) I really get upset to hear people begging for principle forgiveness - I wish I could get something like that. But, I don't qualify because I live within my means and don't default on loans. Go figure...

Desperately Seeking Helen Thomas? {AOL Hot Searches}

Jun 8th 2010 6:52PM You know, I was disappointed with her position on the subject matter. However, she WAS asked for her opinion and she gave it. There wouldn't be such a hoo ha over this if the administration shared the same opinion. She spoke her mind and was not acting as a journalist when she did. I find it unfortunate that she feels the way she does, but she's entitled to her feelings, whether she's 90 years old or not. I think it's awful that she was forced to resign over this. She had a wonderful career and she should always remain proud of her accomplishments.

Elena Kagan's Fashion Sense: Robin Givhan and the Nominee's Legs {Politics Daily}

May 25th 2010 7:12PM This is the most ridiculous article I have EVER read. What a waste of time and space. Slow news day. Honestly - Elena Kagen is being judged by her appearance? How shallow. She is a brilliant legal mind and I for one (being a registered Republican) am very happy she is being considered for the Supreme Court. She is a woman who has dedicated her entire adult life to studying, teaching and fully implementing the law of our land. But that is to be disregarded for her dress, because after all, it's not what you know, it's how you look. How ridiculous!

Worst buys at the warehouse club {WalletPop}

Apr 23rd 2010 3:29PM They went to a Costco warehouse in Chicago. Prices are much higher there. I live 40 miles outside the city and I am very unit price conscious. I buy Scott toilet paper at my local costco, because it is in fact cheaper than the grocery stores, and in concurrence with someone else's comments in this section, I do not shop at Walmart. Their practices are not good for our economy - cheaper is not necessarily better, although I have found that their prices have exceeded those of my local grocery on many staple items. While the main point of the article is correct - take time to price the unit costs, not the total costs - I think it was a little slanted, due to the region that they selected to compare.

Rosie's Return Means Round Two With Barbara Walters {PopEater}

Mar 23rd 2010 9:38PM I don't know which would be worse - Rosie or The View. If I had to pick one, I go with The View. Rosie is waaaayyyy too controversial and too unpredictable to have such a prime timeslot. She needs to prove herself once again, because she blew it on The View and at the tail end of her previous talk show. When she first started, she kept it light and it was truly entertaining. Now, she's a bully and ambushes unsuspecting people. Don't believe me, just ask Tom Selleck. No, Rosie won't get it. I think they should put Ellen or Bonnie Hunt in that spot.

Secretary's mistake turns into $1.26 billion judgment against PepsiCo {Daily Finance}

Oct 30th 2009 6:41AM Oh sure - blame the secretary. I'm sorry, but this case had to be a very high priority at PepsiCo. I am hard pressed to believe that no one at corporate headquarters had any notion that this lawsuit existed. If, however, PepsiCo is able to demonstrate that this default judgment was, infact, a result of a clerical error, I am pretty sure that PepsiCo could be victorious with a motion to vacate. That certainly is one heck of an "oops."

Glamour's Naked 'Plus-Sized' Models {Stylelist}

Oct 3rd 2009 6:38PM Wow, I think these women are just beautiful. I'm about the same size as these ladies, and it did my heart good to know that when people compliment me, they're being truthful. My husband tells me all the time how 'hot' I am. I'm beginning to believe him. If we saw more "normal" size plus models more often, I believe a lot of women would stop beating themselves up!

Whole Foods to stop selling junk {Daily Finance}

Aug 6th 2009 3:23PM I completely agree with previous comments about WF needs to not be a publically held corporation. I think the same principle should apply to the health care industry as well. The reason costs are so high, not only for staff, but pharmaceuticals are out the roof, because they have shareholders that they have to satisfy. This is not for the good of the whole, its for the good of the shareholders. Be smart - eat what you want in balance, exercise, read the labels and in general, just be smart. People don't get cancer from eating junk food once or twice a month - they get cancer from eating crap all day, every day. The government can't change people's behavior. Each individual needs to take personal responsibility for everything he or she puts into his or her mouth.
