Mar 3rd 2009 9:52AM Greg, while I and others may appreciate your willingness to look past a bit of a person's "exterior," you do not fully understand that it's not necessarily within one's control.

I ate nothing and drank only water for 6 years. I was always on the move, deliberately. I only stopped to sleep. I wanted desperately to wear a single digit sized clothing. Alas, at 5'2", I was still 170lbs and a size 14. I was trying, very drastically, and still didn't lose that "50 lbs. with 10 min. on a treadmill."

I can certainly appreciate where this young lady's mind was because I never had a date throughout all of that or after. I was seeking the same as she but I couldn't attain the "thin" standard and get a guy to see me as more than a friend. She saw her virginity as the "ultimate proof" that she was finally accepted and would receive the "love & affection" she desired. The difference between this young lady & myself, I've realized that while the "world we live in" may truly define each of us by what's on the outside but I know I'm worthy of someone better than that.

Go ahead and say it, "Spoken by a true fat & ugly girl." You're not saying anything I haven't heard before but I chose to not judge you...it's not my place...just know that you could be missing out on someone special...your loss.

Aug 24th 2007 11:31AM I have been around marijuana (& other drugs) and friends who have offered it but I've always abstained so I too am a proud member of the Never Been Baked Club. I even more proudly declare that as my oldest child is currently entering college.

I don't mind being the self-righteous mom saying, "I didn't try pot in college." I can also boast that I didn't drink alcohol until I was 21 (as a matter of fact, I was the designated driver on my 21st birthday :P). I made a conscious choice based solely on observation of those who chose not to abstain.

No, I do not consider myself judgementally moral because my attitude is that everyone must make their own choices and then live with the consequences. My choice: marijuana virgin.

So, Mo, you choose what's right for you, regardless of what your poll results may happen to be.

Aug 3rd 2007 4:52PM I agree, the Twin Cities and all of MN are special. I visited for the first time last fall and became entranced as well. Your comments about the hospitality are spot on!

Duluth was one of my stops but, by all means, visit Austin. I felt it was like a Norman Rockwell-ish small town and it's home to SPAM! You can't help but enjoy their celebration of this canned meat in the SPAM Museum!
