New Toys for Girls Make Us Feel Like We're Still Living in 1950 {Lemondrop}

Sep 7th 2010 10:24PM Umm, OK, parkepg... when my daughter was growing up, I spent more time outside with my hubby, working on the car, than I ever did doing housework. (Always have hated housework, so I do the absolute minimum)... I wore jeans all day every day... rarely was in a dress. I'm just not "girly" or "super-feminine" - it's who I am. My daughter, on the other hand, at 3 and 4, hated, absolutely hated to wear jeans... always wanted a dress or a skirt on... and would go in, even at that age, pull up a chair, and wash dishes. Hmmm.... I know *I* didn't teach her that!! LOL I'm no femi-Nazi, but I do believe in providing children with toys that suit THEIR interests, and encouraging them to be who THEY are... not little "mini-me"s... boys or girls!!

New Toys for Girls Make Us Feel Like We're Still Living in 1950 {Lemondrop}

Sep 7th 2010 10:16PM Absolutely, Allie!! Good post! I am about to turn 50 - my favorite toys growing up were Baby Secret... and the army men my mom bought me... I don't think it's about turning kids "unisex"... not this particular article, anyway... it's about the horrible choices out there for girls' toys. I don't have a problem with the Cleaning Trolley either - if my daughter wanted it, I wouldn't have an issue with buying it for her. The Pole Dancing one, or the Tramp Stamp machine... hmmm... that's another matter. I do agree with the earlier post - if parents don't buy these toys, they will fade into obscurity... c'mon folks, if you have children, please be parents!

Why Does Everybody Get My Name Wrong? {ParentDish}

Jul 15th 2010 9:40PM lw - I love and adore the name Aisling!! If I had had a 2nd daughter, I'd have named her that... but would have kept the original spelling... my only daughter's name is Saleta... it gets mispronounced a lot, but it was her great-grandmother's name, so she's very proud of her name!

WTF?!? Rush Limbaugh touts GM's green efforts, loves his Escalade and Suburban {Autoblog Green}

Aug 2nd 2007 8:22PM Oh my GOSH! Chris, especially. Have you ever even listened to Rush Limbaugh speak? Oh, he definitely gets loud and upset with what the liberals are doing to our country, but I have listened to his show for YEARS and I have yet to hear him say he hates anyone!

YOU, on the other hand, just admitted you "despise" Limbaugh... hmmm, that's another word for hate, isn't it?

I'm a conservative... I don't HATE anyone... OK.. maybe my x... but even though I don't agree with their points of view, I have gay friends, liberal friends, black friends, etc.

I've yet to hear Limbaugh utter a comment anywhere near to the likes of Alec Baldwin, who said, on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, "If we were living in another country, what we, all of us together, would go down to Washington and stone Henry Hyde to death, stone him to death, stone him to death! Then we would go to their house and we'd kill the family, kill the children."

Lovely!!

Or James Carville, who suggested that Independent Counsel Kenneth Starr should be knee-capped.

I haven't heard this kind of talk from those "hateful" right-wing radio talk show hosts.

Hmmm... America is definitely being sold a bill of goods...

And liberals are supposed to be all about love.

HA!
