It Wasn't a Mortgage Recession After All: So Why Don't We Feel Better? {Housingwatch}

Mar 2nd 2010 7:19AM Seriously? The acronym for a housing security program is REPO????
Does anyone else see the irony?

At first, I thought it was an April Fool's article... but it's only March 2.

What's In That Fish Sandwich? {Slashfood}

Feb 26th 2010 6:53AM This is EXACTLY why I will never order "fish" that is not accompanied by a descriptor. My biggest fear though is not of hake or hoki, but rather of Tilapia.

Tilapia is a trash fish, popular among the impovershed in sub-Saharan Africa. It is a bottom feeder, prone to accumulate all of the metals and toxins, which are then passed on to us. Other fish, such as salmon, tuna, and swordfish magnify these levels. Why Tilapia has become such a popular protein source in the industrialized world is beyond me. Everytime I see it in grocery stores or on restaurant menus, I want to vomit. If you really want fish, you're options are generally limited to Tilapia or farm-raised Salmon.

Regardless, commercial fishing is unsustainable. This is why consumers are always learning of new types of fish that are the "cool" thing to cook and eat. Remember when Orange Roughy was such a hot item on restaurant menus?

Just say "no" to "fish" unless you really know what you're eating.

Young Adults Doing Religion on Their Own? Blame It on Politics {Politics Daily}

Feb 26th 2010 6:41AM It just goes to show that Churches are not necessary to live a moral and upright life, or to have a healthy relationship with God.

Churches are inflammatory, divisive, and always tell us that what we are doing is sin. If you push your sheep hard enough, they will rebel.

Elton John Prohibited From Adopting {PopEater}

Sep 15th 2009 8:11AM The headline is so misleading!!! Saying that the denial of adoption has NOTHING to do with his sexuality is WRONG!!!

Sure, while he wasn't denied adoption because he is gay, he was denied adoption because his MARRIAGE was not viewed by society as LEGITIMATE, and therefore he is, for all intents and purposes, considered single.

This should demonstrate to EVERYONE -- gay or straight -- why marriage equality is so vital. While heterosexual couples may cross State or even International boundaries and still be considered by the correlative governments as WEDDED, gay couples, irrespective of where they were married, do not carry the honor of being recognized whenever they leave their jurisdiction.

This is why DOMA must be repealed, why the EU nations must all recognize legitimate marriages, and why the UN must also set forth a decree for member states to recognize the civic marriages of members' citizens!

Tibetan Mastiff becomes world's priciest dog: Chinese woman pays $600,000 {Daily Finance}

Sep 14th 2009 12:53PM $600K for a 1.5 year old dog that isn't even a champion nor has sired champions is quite excessive. There's no need to pay such a ridiculous price!!!

What amazes me even more though, is that the concept -- a wealthy Chinese woman paying an exorbitant amount of money for a canine companion -- is the very antithesis of the contemporary Chinese culture and construct!

Nevertheless... I think it's awesome.

Born on September 11: A Birthday Forever Changed {ParentDish}

Sep 10th 2009 12:24PM The Kid needs therapy. Eight years later and she still cries a river? And the parents are enabling it! Gimme a break!!! boo hoo no more!

Honey, your birthday is to celebrate your LIFE!!! So celebrate!!! You've just finished another milestone of LIVING!!!! Rejoice!!!! Three-thousand people aren't going to cry when you die, whether caused for a terrorist, lightening, or an incompetent nurse who doesn't change your bed pan.

so eight years later, if you still can't celebrate YOUR LIFE, because you're too busy mourning the DEATH of others, then it's seriously time to check into some serious psychiatric help.

More School Lunches Going Vegetarian {ParentDish}

Sep 3rd 2009 3:21PM I think it neither proper nor appropriate to influence kids' dietary choices with vegetarianism.

Modern vegetarianism is SOY heavy. For young boys, this is very detrimental to their development, due to the fact that SOY contains phyto estrogen, which has been scientifically proven to alter the natural hormone balance of males.

The truth is, we need generous sources of protein in our diets, and vegetables simply are an inadequate source of protein. This is not to say that one must eat meat all the time. It is, however, to suggest, that whole hog vegetarianism, and forcing that "morality" on impressionable young minds in their daily lives is whole-heartedly inappropriate.

Whole Foods drama continues: Unions join in fight against CEO {Daily Finance}

Aug 28th 2009 7:55PM I guess it just goes to show, those who are in support of boycotting Whole Foods because the CEO doesn't support the Obama Health Care plan, haven't actually done their homework.

The Obama Health Care plan is NOT the best Health Care Reform!!! It's crappy legislation and it will bring crappy reform.

Just because someone is against the Obama plan doesn't mean they are against reform. It only means they are against THIS reform.

Come on, liberals. We pride ourselves on being free-thinkers. But I am so deeply disappointed that so many of my breatheren can't think freely on this issue. Why must we tow the party line and buy-in to this crappy legislation?

Little Girl Catches Big Fish With Her Bare Hands {ParentDish}

Aug 13th 2009 1:30PM When I was a kid I saw a movie called "The Earthling" starring a very young Rick Schroeder. In the film, he was taught by an older gent how to catch a fish with his bare hands.

I took that technique from the film and applied at a creek near my grandparents' cabin located on the Apache reservation in Arizona.

Sure enough, if I didn't catch a Brook Trout with my bare hands.

It can be done! I can't view the clip on this website, but there is no doubt in my mind that it must be real.
