Hungary introduces "fat tax" on unhealthy foods {Gadling}

Jul 16th 2011 7:40PM Um, have any of you *been* to a grocery store recently? You can't *find* healthy food! Tax the big chain fastfood restaurants and not the people paying $8.99 per pound with most of those pounds water weight. I tried to make a steak. Guess what? It *boiled* in the pan fromj excess water they squeezed in to get more money. And define "unhealthy". Do you know how much sodium is in most of the things we eat? And I'm not talking Hamburger Helper here; I'm talking about the supposedly "good for you" foods. So basically, the Food and Drug Administration be taking us extra for *everything* in the grocery store, tax money that would line already wealthy pockets.

Get Your Child Offline and Outdoors {ParentDish}

Jul 16th 2011 9:54AM But, you know, there's something to be said for dragging your kid for a picnic in the park, teaching them to ride a bike, going down to the YMCA, taking them to the beach, actually *playing* with them and *raising* them, etc.

Get Your Child Offline and Outdoors {ParentDish}

Jul 16th 2011 9:48AM And here I was hoping that something could *help* my computer addiction; just another AOL fluff piece. I go for walks on occasion and tan a bit; I suppose that's the best I can do without transport in a small town with *nothing* to do. My eventual kids aren't having a computer until they need it to type high school papers, and I'll only allow them to watch TV when I can be in their presence to explain things. There's a solution for *my* kids' generation. If they want to stay indoors, they can listen to music.

Weight Loss Lessons: What One Author Wishes She Knew at 23 {That's Fit}

Jun 11th 2011 6:49PM Hi Older Self,
I'm 20 and non-functional for anything but paperwork before 8:30; I hope you speak Caveman, as I don't drink coffee. I've been drinking so much water and grape juice the last two years that I'm sick of it, and I've lost a lot of weight but those extra ten pounds just aren't leaving. I go for walks all the time, but all that's working for is my legs (nice legs, by the way) and Wii Fit told me that, while my weight is in the normal range, my age should be 69. There *is* no food that's good for you in stores that doesn't cost more than I'm making at work, so sorry, but you'll still be working off those extra pounds at age 40 if you want your bipolar medication so you don't have a psychotic break. Apologies, but you'll have to live with the pounds.
Sincerely,
20-year-old Me

Strip Tease: Finally a Pain-Free Bikini Wax {Stylelist}

Jun 3rd 2011 12:56PM Nair doesn't work on me at all. Never mind the fact that I'm allergic to one of the ingredients; it just doesn't *work*. I'll try the wax, thanks.

Kids Skip Schools, but Their Parents Face Detention {ParentDish}

May 12th 2011 11:47AM Yeah, but can you prove I wasn't sick when I left from the nurse's office and came back with a doctor's note four days later? Can you prove I wasn't having a psychological breakdown when my therapist wrote out a pass for all those days I missed? Kids are just gonna get more creative; it's not going to make them stop.

How I Learned to Love My Curls: From Poofy to Stick-Straight to Happy at Last {Stylelist}

May 3rd 2011 8:43AM Actually, seeing how tall she looks in that picture to the left, her nose is probably *exactly* right for her. Don't put a woman down when you haven't seen the whole picture (*not* an attempt at a very bad pun).

Which Food is Most Likely to Make You Sick? {Slashfood}

Apr 30th 2011 6:48PM This article is actually very useful, as most, when nervous about a new restaurant, opt for the chicken thinking it safer.

As for the vegetarian/vegan thing... well, I eat what my body tells me to, and my body tells me I need the nutrients in meats the most. Sorry if that offends you, but your meal was just as much a living thing. Trees and plants are *alive*. If they're dead plants, you're not eating them; they're rotten much like an animal decays. Plants may not have intelligence as we understand it, but they still live and die - and comunicate with each other, in some cases. But I don't tell you how to live your life, so you shouldn't tell me how to live mine either.

Demi Lovato Reveals She Has Bipolar Disorder {PopEater}

Apr 21st 2011 8:57AM Bipolar can actually be very damaging to the psyche, and I'm glad she found out before she hit twenty. Going untreated for a long time is particularly bad. I'm actually working on something about it - because people just don't know how bad it can get and they need to start understanding bipolar at its worst. I'm second generation Bipolar I, as is my half-sibling, both through the same parent (sometimes it's genetics). Bipolar can lead to other issues that lead to even a psychotic break. Depending on the person it can be a very minor thing in their life or just a step down from MPD (Multiple Personality Disorder).
