St. Patrick's Day Beers With 99 Calories or Less {That's Fit}
Mar 17th 2011 12:04PM There are quality American beers but none from Budmilcoors. There are a lot of choices in quality beer. Heck Austin (where I live) has several, 512 Brewery and Independence to name two, Uncle Billies and the Draught House, NXNW all brew excellent real beer and all American. Flying Dog in Delaware, St. Arnolds in Houston, Petes in Oregon, excellent American beers made from the stuff you are suppose to use. Budmilcoors uses corn and rice and then they heat flash the beer to kill the yeast (which contains massive quantities of B12 that helps prevent hangovers) rendering swill that is not fit for consumption by anyone.
You are correct in calling those people who claim Bidmilcoors are good beer are morons.
St. Patrick's Day Beers With 99 Calories or Less {That's Fit}
Mar 17th 2011 11:58AM Your article has a huge flaw -- you used the word "beer" but then did not talk about beer, you talked about beer flavored waters. Here's the real facts -- beer (REAL beer) has more than 100 calories. Real beer has body and flavor so you are not engaging in a chugging contest when you drink real beer thus the number of calories is moot since you want to enjoy the few you will drink in an evening. All those drinks you listed are for college students and light weights. Please stop insulting the knowledgeable public by calling them beer. It hurts our feeling.
Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar Walk Off 'View' Set While Talking to Bill O'Reilly {PopEater}
Oct 14th 2010 6:41PM The bottom line is if Bill O'Reilly disagrees with your position, he is a bully. He talks over you, he interrupts, he cuts you off, etc., etc. The man is a mean spirited, small minded bully!
The Great Typo Hunt -- Two Friends Correct Grammar Across the USA {Asylum}
Aug 19th 2010 3:50PM My friend, in the advertising biz, constantly points out the typos in the menus. My favorite typo was at a local KFC --- Snaker Box for $___. I asked for a snaker box and they guy said said, "snacker box" to which I replied, "no snaker as the marquee says." A week later it still wasn't fixed.
20 Million Homeowners Projected to Be Underwater by End of 2011 {Housingwatch}
Aug 6th 2010 1:03PM I know people hate hearing it but the truth is too many bought with too little. How many people in trouble bought a home with little to no down payment? Or bought more home than they realistically could afford because a lender approved them or more likely than not did both? Sure there are some unscrupulous lenders but as a buyer you had a responsibility to realize you were putting yourself in jeopardy. How many got second and third loans to things like credit card debt consolidation or to buy a boat? Plus everyone knows (but most won't admit) when you don't "earn" something you don't place as much value on the item. So that $150,000 house that you moved into for nothing down isn't as valuable to you as the $150,000 house that you sunk that 10% down payment of $15,000 into the day you closed.
I'm sorry some people fell victim to unscrupulous lenders but in the end, you brought it on yourselves. You alone are responsible for your situation because you failed to act with fiscal responsibility by accepting you need to save to buy that house and/or knowing the $200,000 house is nice but the $100,000 house will suit just fine and is really what you can afford. Stop whining and expecting others to fix your mess and at least be stand up enough to admit you ultimately made the mistakes that put you where you are.
Head Lice Is No Reason to Miss School, Report Says {ParentDish}
Jul 27th 2010 12:36AM Actually those making the comments that imply head lice are not a problem because you maintain some superior standard of hygene are ignorant. Head lice are more common in clean hair than dirty -- the clean hair is devoid of excessive natural oils making it more difficult for the lice to "hold on." Consequently, the cleaner you are, the more likely you are to become infested.
Bug Off! Soap Keeps Pests at Bay {ParentDish}
Jul 4th 2010 9:59AM Goatmilk in soap is a natural deterent of bugs when used regularly. Anyone who has ever made soap knows this. However, studies have repeatedly shown that citronella is not a repellant to bugs. As for the question about the essential oils, yes they are natural -- essential oils are highly concentrated oils extracted from various flowers, plants and vegetables (such as eucalyptus or citrus fruits, i.e., citronella). There are no chemicals in the oils. Fragrance oils on the other hand can contain chemicals but they said this product uses essential oils (which are extremely expensive in case you are curious).
The Controversy Of The Clothesline {Shelterpop}
Jun 4th 2010 11:00AM All that lint in your dryer is fabric particles. And people wonder why their clothes seem to fall apart so fast. Solar dryers (which a clothes line is) are great. It's a little extra exercise in your day, clothes do smell fresher and talk about all that electricity you are saving!
10-plus ways you can lose money by doing it yourself {WalletPop}
Apr 19th 2010 1:48PM I sew the bulk of my own clothes (including fabulous renaissance court clothing), make my own soap, candles and beer -- to mention a few things. I have custom made curtains throughout my home as well as pillows and assorted other household items. Yes, there was expense for materials and equipment but over time those expenses have been recouped and I've helped spawn another generation as well as numerous friends who learned these crafts.
I'm an accomplished seamstress having sewn since I was 12. Needless to say, that does take away the learning curve expense. I make beer that rivals beer costing upwards of $4 a bottle for about $1 a bottle or less. I make five pounds of soap (about 50 bars) for what an average consumer spends for 10 of the cheap stuff. Candles, absolute savings and I get to burn mine so they are actually used instead of collecting dust.
But even if these endeavors cost me money, they are things that give me pleasure and joy. Just like baking my bread at home using actual flour and yeast. Not everything is a measure of expense in terms of time and equipment. And sometimes there is value is passing on skills so the art is not lost forever!
Greg Packer Still Hasn't Opened His iPad {Asylum}
Apr 9th 2010 2:27PM He's not a hero, he's an idiot. But he's in good company because many people obviously place no value on their time and stand in line for almost anything. Stupid is as stupid does. The iPad, the movie, the meal is the same at a later date, waiting for any of those things is ridiculous. Get a life!
