Sep 30th 2009 8:55PM She was lucky to be given the home in the first place. Why not down size, save money or get another job? Why are we supposed to feel sorry for a woman who was given a $220,000 home? Her son being killed is the only tragedy here.

Jun 11th 2007 12:54AM I have been in retail for over 20 years and things have changed dramatically over the years. "Back in the day" you could catch, wrestle and beat shoplifters if you were physically able. Now you have to sign policies that state "no chase" or "no apprehension". Many retailers will fire you for getting involved, management included. Everything is in favor of the criminal,especially in court. It is ridiculous what retailers do to fight this, the law ties their hands with possible lawsuits, so they hold employees very accountable.Talk to ANYONE that has worked in retail for more than a year and I'm sure they have shoplifter stories that you would never believe. The criminal has more rights than other shoppers or employees.
