You know I am a 40 year old woman and I feel the same, I'm not that offended by these ads. I was wondering were I would sign up for the success school...LOL
Lets face it ladies we all want to look and feel nice. If we didn't the make -up, fashion, and diet indrustries wouldn't be billion dollar indrustries! Just a thought.

uhmm hello... ads today are STILL sexist. look at any ad(err about 90% of them) and unless your blind and dumb you can point out how they are sexist
and to all those who say its a woman's JOB to keep up her appearance you are an idiot. even you women agreeing with these ads and not being offended by them, you should feel incredibly stupid

you mindless sheep, it is no ones duty to be "fit and lovely".
beauty is relative, it cannot be made out to be one thing.
what you and this ad claim to be beauty is just 1930's propaganda against individualism.
i am neither "fit" nor "lovely", i have curves and character and i am beautiful.

This was during WWII - where EVERYONE was encouraged to do their part. The theory was that if you were fit and healthy - the 'boys' would have on eless worry. AND when they went on leave - they had beautiful women to look at and admire. There was even a SONG about - "Keep Young and Beautiful (It's Your Duty to be Beautiful)" . Ther emay have been shortages of everything - but make-up was a priority. women were taught how to make make-up at home - to draw on lines along the backs of their legs and use tanning cream to fake the appearance of silk hose. It was a National campaign - and even more so in England during and after the Blitz. This is period appropriate. Women were ALSO building planes and tanks at the time.

Here are the lyrics:
What's cute about little cutie
It's her beauty, not brains
Old father time will never harm you
If your charm still remains
After you grow old, baby
Keep young and beautiful
It's your duty to be beautiful
Keep young and beautiful
If you want to be loved
If you're wise exercise all the fat off
Take it off, off of here, off of there
When you'er seen anywhere
With you hat off
Wear a marcel wave in your hair
Take care of all those charms
And you'll always be in someone's arms
Keep young and beautiful
If you want to be loved
If you're wise exercise all the fat off
Take it off, off of here, off of there
When you'er seen anywhere
With you hat off
Wear a marcel wave in your hair
Keep young and beautiful
It's your duty to be beautiful
Keep young and beautiful
If you want to be loved
Keep young and beautiful
If you want to be loved
Boopie doo, ah
