Last week, we were shocked to find out a couple was willing to let the public decide whether or not they were going to keep their baby or abort it. However, it was all a sham.Pete Arnold admitted to CNN that while the site's mission is to talk about the pros and cons of abortion, he and his wife had no intention to terminate the pregnancy. He also revealed he bought the "Birthornot.com" URL four months before Alisha found out she was expecting.
But why create the site in the first place? Arnold said that he was thinking about doing this "for some time" and that they "chose [their] words very carefully" so people would participate in the discussion despite the fact his wife never wanted to get rid of her unborn child.
"My intent is not to deceive people, but at the same point, I do want people to talk about this," he said. "This seemed like a pretty good way to further the discussion, because people don't ever seem to want to talk about it for real if there's no name on it, no Baby Wiggles."
Up until Nov. 23, the Arnolds were standing by the legitimacy of Birthornot.com, but Pete said they're thinking "about ending it early. I think people are getting it."
Yes, Arnold, we get that you want us to talk about abortion. But putting your unborn child on the table was probably not the best way to get the message across.
