If your unbridled fear for the future of our nation is based solely on information you've gleaned from Justin Bieber fan pages and your niece's Facebook, we've got good news. It turns out girls willfully make themselves seem less intelligent and kind online than they really are in real life.
of over 1,000 teen girls conducted by the Girl Scouts of the USA (the survey was not limited to Girl Scouts) found that many play down their intelligence and kindness online, preferring to present themselves as "fun."
Girls with low self-esteem are more likely to try to portray themselves as "crazy" and "sexy." Oh boy! A teenage girl with low self-esteem who thinks she's crazy and sexy -- is there anything more terrifying?
The good news is that most girls surveyed know that they're more well-rounded in real life than they are online. The bad news is that there doesn't seem to be anything we can do about this Bieber guy.
