Is that girl you were kind of cool with but secretly hated in high school because she said you had hair like Cory Matthews really your friend? Of course not. And some people are hoping you'll choose today to make that public on Facebook.

Apparently tired of seeing tons of accepted friend requests flood his newsfeed, Jimmy Kimmel has named Nov. 17 National Unfriend Day. (Other folks have jumped on the bandwagon as well -- check out CNN's helpful advice on whose day you should ruin with your callousness.)

"I encourage you to cut some of the friend fat in your life," Kimmel said during his show on Nov. 3.

With PSAs from William Shatner and Lisa Kudrow, the comedian and late-night host hopes we will get in the spirit and unfriend all our acquaintances, exes and that random guy you had chemistry class with who you drunkenly added when Facebook "suggested" him to you.

Will you be culling the herd today? We don't let Jimmy Kimmel tell us who we can and can't be fake friends with. Plus, we read an article six years ago or so that says Facebook is a great networking tool.
