For a woman who's just released a book about how faith can get you through any crisis ("The Cure for the Chronic Life"), Brett Favre's wife Deanna has certainly been asked to put her money where her mouth is.

In the wake of allegations that her husband has been sexually inappropriate with at least a couple of female employees of the Jets -- aka Favregate -- Deanna must be feeling embarrassed, betrayed, and furious, but when she was asked this morning about how she's dealing, she told "Good Morning America":

I can tell you that faith... has gotten me through many difficult struggles, and it will get me through this one... I'm handling this through faith.

We feel like this is letting Brett off a bit easy.

Deanna's book, which is either brilliantly or poorly timed in its release, is not about how to cope with very public sexual-harassment scandals involving your husband. It's about surviving chronic illness with the help of faith and, to us, relying on religion in that situation makes sense. Cancer is a terrifying, humbling tragedy that can happen to any one of us, and it's no one's fault. They same cannot be said for Brett Favre's sexts. Those were his fault entirely.

We hope that Deanna doesn't focus on her faith so much that she forgets to focus on the infantile indiscretions of her husband. This wasn't something that happened to her marriage, it's something that Brett did.

Religion is an amazing resource that helps people deal with gut-wrenching emotions and feel less alone in their struggles, but when it comes to helping you make sure your husband takes responsibility for taking cell phone pictures of his penis and sending them to random women, faith may not be your best solution. It may, instead, give you blinders that keep you from truly dealing with the problem. Forgiveness is vital, but so is feeling valued and respected in your marriage.

Nowhere in the Bible is sexting addressed. Sometimes, in the midst of a struggle, you need to rely less on faith and more on the wonders of God's creation -- specifically, a good therapist and a good lawyer.
