I'm the type of person who will wear sandals until the snow hits. I'm in denial: How could summer be over when I just last night had a midsummer night's dream? Fact is, my feet are cold and I need some boots, and chances are you do, too. So I've searched high and low, price- and style-wise, for the absolute must-have boots for the season.

Black boots are super-easy to throw on with everything but when I spotted these divine blue booties I couldn't help but question why on Earth I don't own 20 pairs of navy shoes? How hot would these things look with dark skinny jeans and a giant cozy sweater? Which I'm preemptively declaring as the best date outfit you'll ever wear on crisp fall and winter evenings.
HIGH: Versani Women's 2316 Platform Bootie, $340

LOW: ASOS ALESHA Leather Platform Chelsea Boot, $110

By far the easiest way to make your look a bit more badass while still being super-feminine. I love that both of these boots come looking already worn in; this way you won't have to waste time jumping in oil puddles or kicking dirt in order to look like you've had them for decades ... 'cause I know you were considering both those things to avoid that brand-new shoe look.

HIGH:
Jessica Bennett Women's Norton Boot, $220

LOW: DV by Dolce Vita Women's Bronco Boot, $120

Are you looking for a way to seduce perfect strangers just by walking past them on the street? If so, this is the way to do it. These boots have a way of bringing others to a level of envy unlike any other. They can verge on classless, so do yourself a big favor and don't wear them without tights, leggings or jeans. The best look would be a super-girly dress and tights. Again, do not attempt wearing these in short shorts, mini skirts, bathing suits, anything leopard or sequin, unless you want to be deemed tragic by your lovely 90-year-old neighbors.
HIGH: Stuart Weitzman Vigor Bold High Heel Over the Knee Boots, $695

LOW: H by Halston Farah 2 Over the Knee Boot, $130

I own these boots and have been wearing them nonstop for weeks. When I first purchased them I wasn't convinced, but they've quickly become my most coveted buy of the season. As masculine as they may look at first glance, don't doubt for a moment how wearable they actually are with anything remotely sweet.

HIGH:
Steve Madden Londunn Bootie Brown Suede, $119

LOW: Rocket Dog Women's Yonder Ankle Boot, $60

Am I the only one who finds this boot extremely alluring? Perhaps it's the fact that it can be worn day or night and look fabulous with whatever it's paired with. Or maybe it's that the looseness on the leg does an incredible job of making your leg look slimmer and longer. An illusion we all gladly accept.
HIGH: Vera Wang Lavender Label Joey Suede Wedge Cuff Ankle Boots, $350

LOW: Naughty Monkey Hideout Bootie, $80

Editors, models and celebs were all perched upon these gorgeous beauties throughout New York Fashion Week. Paired with the tightest black pants and chicest black blazers, or done with white lace dresses and tights, they seem to be the no-brainer, must-have boots of the moment, so get on that before flakes start to come down and you turn to your old trusty snow boots.

HIGH:
Sam Edelman Vancouver Black Suede Bootie, $225

LOW: Steve Madden Clovurr Black Suede Bootie, $159

Remember when you were a kid and your parents bought you new winter boots and all you wanted to do was wear them even though it was still 80 degrees? That's what happened when I saw these things for the first time. Love. At. First Sight. Don't let the shearling trim throw you off, what may seem like a winter-only style is actually perfect for fall -- and ideal for making football Sundays way more fashionable.
HIGH: Elie Tahari Shelly Clog Boot, $398

LOW: Sam Edelman Winsford Boot, $225

Riding boots are a fall closet essential for two reasons: 1) They never go out of style, which means you will have them and wear them forever, and 2) They're perfect with a classic coat and jeans when you truly don't know what to wear on weekends. It's like stepping out of a Ralph Lauren ad every time you leave home.
