Lots of us have a soft spot for a brooding rocker-type in a little bit of eyeliner. (David Bowie! Ewan MacGregor! Captain Jack Sparrow!) But what about a dude in bronzer? 3.3 million males in Britain admit to wearing makeup or some sort of cosmetic products and a new study of 1,800 men found that one in seven will wear products like eyeliner, self-tanner and concealer on a regular basis. Other products men admitted to using were hair dye, powder, nail polish, anti-aging creams, eye creams and, um, lipstick, with 26 percent saying they used makeup at least once a week. 13 percent said they apply daily, and 20 percent wear makeup to work.
The study also found that men are savvy when it comes to DIY beauty treatments, with one in 20 placing cucumbers over their eyes and one in 12 using toothpaste to dry out blemishes. Just like lots of women feel uncomfortable going out without their war paint, 25 percent of men surveyed aren't confident going to a bar without makeup on.
And girls are into seeing their guys in mascara: one-third of the men reported borrowing makeup from wives or girlfriends. 39 percent of those women were happy to lend out their MAC, with a similar figure helping to apply cosmetics on their partners.
Nothing says I love you like dabbing glitter on your boyfriend.
Meanwhile, this site is challenging women to go bare-faced.

So right next to an article about another website's misogyny, we get a title for this article that lets us know that men should stick to their prescribed gender roles. Yup, no hypocritical standards there...

Hate to break it to you ladies, but you know all those straight male musicians and all the guys you drool over in the movies, most of them would not be caught dead without their eyeliner, or eyebrow pencil, or whatever makes them feel better about them selves. They are all made up on TV and in the movies so they get used to looking a certain way, and people are used to seeing them a certain way.
Just as a recent example, There was a photo of Richie Sambora in Star magazine out for the evening and he was wearing not only eyeliner, but also EYEBROW PENCIL!!!
I was married to a professional musician for 16 years and it was my job to make sure I had all HIS makeup so he could touch up between sets. And I'm telling you for sure, he was not gay. Not that that has anything to do with it in the first place. Many men are self conscious of their bad skin. Watch the pro active commercials. These days, men, expecially younger men, use as many, if not more! hair products than we do!
If it's done well and it enhances his features or hides his blemishes and makes him feel better about himself, why should he not be able to feel comfortable wearing it. After all, would YOU go out for the night without your "FACE" on? I don't think so!

Who cares? We were ALL born naked and make up free...after that the rest is just drag. God didn't create make-up or even the types of clothing we wear...society made those decisions. Only we choose to consider make up a feminine accessory. If it enhances someone's looks and gives them confidence, or they just want to make a statement, let it be. I am pretty sure it will have NO effect on you personally. And if you are that concerned, you might want to look at why you really care in the first place.

I'd have no problem with the news that more men are wearing makeup, except for the fact that I might have to take back something that I've been saying for decades: When men are expected to spend a half-hour or more every day painting their faces just to go out in public and be considered socially acceptable, the way women are, then I'll consider doing it too. Well, I think I'll just take my time reconsidering. I may be behind the times, but I still believe that there are more important criteria for judging a person than how he or she looks.
