Boobs -- they're always getting in the way. And according to a new survey of more than 2,000 employers, too much of them could stop you from getting a job. The British survey -- commissioned by chain store TK Maxx (TJ Maxx's cheeky overseas cousin?) and reported in the Daily Mail -- found that employers balk at hiring women sporting too much cleavage. Other interview deal-breakers: un-ironed clothing, out-there fashion and poorly chosen undergarments (i.e., a black bra under a white shirt).
Advised Eden Brown recruitment manager Kieran How, "Some bosses may like to see a pretty girl in a tight-fitting top flashing a lot of cleavage, but you rarely know who will be interviewing you." It might be a woman, after all. Or a manatee.
The TK Maxx survey instead offered this revolutionary advice: "Play it safe by wearing well-fitted, ironed clothes in neutral colors."
The article does bring up one salient point: Job interviews are not the place to try out anything new, wild or wacky. (Think statement jewelry or anything difficult to wear, like Alexander McQueen pumps.) There's a fine line between wearing something that says "This is me -- I'm fun and hip" and wearing something that screams "I will be the most annoying person in your office."
Tell Us: What do you wear to job interviews?

I'd really hoped this was obvious. If you're going to go to a job interview, you need to dress professionally. Even if it's retail. Maybe don't wear a full suit, but boobs popping out and your bra showing are not going to give the impression of someone who is focused and put together. You're just going to look like you don't care enough about the job to put effort into your first impression.

I interview a lot of interns and kids fresh out of college, and you wouldn't believe what some of these girls come in with. Once, we had someone coming in for an internship position and HR told her Friday was "casual day" so she didn't need to dress up.
She showed up in bermuda shorts, a v-neck tank cut downtothere (with ample cleavage) and proceeded to talk about 'Sex and the City' the whole time (ok so that doesn't have to do with her wardrobe but it didn't help).
Needless to say she was not asked back. It's always better to be overdressed than underdressed, ladies!

I recently went to an interview in a simple dress in neutral colours with a modest neckline and a solid-coloured blazer.
I once interviewed a woman whose jacket was two sizes too small for her very ample bosom, and she had buttoned the blazer, even though she had a modest, suitable top underneath. The buttons were seriously threatening to pop.
Another time, the interviewee wore a simple silk blouse and slacks, but there was a food stain right on the centre of her chest. It was very distracting. And I kept wondering why she hadn't bought herself a scarf at one of the stores in the shopping centre downstairs.

Seriously? People go to a job interview dressed skanky? They must be watching too much TV to assume showing off your breast will be an auto-job.
