There are salad fixings -- and now there are salad fix-ups, because sometimes a man's infatuation with croutons is all it takes to pique our interest.Or so a Manhattan salad bar believes.
Just Salad, in downtown New York City, with its regular clientele of recent college grads and Wall Street types, was such a matchmaking hotspot, the owners started up a website for people to find true love based on their shared loved of salad toppings.
What is it about the place? Well, customers like Sara Goldberg, 28, who is on her third date with a lawyer she met at her go-to lunch spot, say a salad bar is just a better place to try to pick somebody up than a regular old bar.
"It's during the day, and it's just salad -- your judgment is not impaired," she says.
Spoken like somebody who's never had a bit too much ranch dressing.
Just Salad owners Nick Kenner, 29, and Rob Crespi, 28, couldn't help but notice all the love connections their mixed greens were making and two weeks ago launched SaladMatch, the dating site that matches people based on their salad toppings. Sounds ridiculous, but aren't you secretly yearning to find that one other person who actually uses those crispy chow mein noodle things?
Consider it a MIssed Connections for any office slave who wants to meet cute.
