Looking for a boost in the finance department? Forget about working harder -- just invest in a box of Clairol. The secret to getting paid more apparently lies in the color of your hair.According to a poll conducted by financial website The Motley Fool, blondes are faring better than their brunette or red-headed counterparts, taking home an average of £1,018.19 (about $1,563.74) after tax and Britain's national insurance reductions every month.
Meanwhile, brunettes pocket about $1,439.34 and redheads are even worse off with average earnings of $1,363.74.
Small consolation? Blondes are apparently worse with their cash and overspend around $427.48 a month on items like chocolate, shoes and handbags.
And this is science people; we're not merely peddling stereotypes.

The pay increase is negated by how much blondes have to spend each month to keep their dark roots from showing. (A lot of that $427 they "overspend" no doubt goes toward pricey professional coloring.)
Stupid blondes.
Brunettes still make more! Huzzah!

As a natural blonde, I feel the need to defend myself, but since I've been dying my hair red for 8 years, I really don't have a leg to stand on.

Great pick up on the added expense to stay blonde. I am glad that I can make more $$ and am a natural light blonde to boot. Best of both Worlds! By the way, from my experience, the "stupid blondes" are actually bleached out brunettes.

Hey.. maybe it isnt the hair color at all.. maybe they make more because they have better shoes and look more professional with the nicer clothes they buy when spending that extra $400 each month!!!

Well here we go-make non-blonde women insecure with this lie. This is just a devious marketing tool by some haircolor company to play on your insecurities to tell you "what's wrong with you". Nonsense! I've been struggling financially for years with my naturally blonde hair. My unemployment just ran out and I STILL haven't found anything full time yet. I'm years overdue for medical treatments because I haven't had decent benefits for years. I wasn't given preferential treatment or got a lot of promotions or made more money because of my hair color. No matter what color your hair is, if you work hard, it will eventually pay off. The hard work I've done hasn't paid off yet, but it will. No wonder a lot of us are millions of dollars in credit card debt b/c some of us believed the hype, including myself. Be yourself ladies!!!! Be happy and rock what you got!!!!!! :)

i think that hair color has nothing to do with you'r job, it has a lot to do with what you know and what you can or can not do to get ahead, and who you do or do not sleep with, it's not who you know, it's who you blow....

How is it that blondes make more money, yet studies have already told us that brunettes are smarter with the copper and zinc theory...something here doesn't seem right.

This study was done in England. The land of Anglo Saxons...blonde and blue-eyed people.
But, according the research done by the man who wrote The Women's Dress for Success Book (John T. Molloy), in America BRUNETTES make more money than blondes.

Well gee..what a shocker! You put a blonde bimbo looking (the two USUALLY go hand in hand, not always)chick in a room with a brunette and let's just guess who the boss will hire.

Another ridiculous scientific study that is meaningless. No wonder we haven't found a cure for cancer yet. There are too many dummy scientists who were on the bottom of their class and can only do studies on hair color. Pathetic.

Well, the scientists working on this were probably anthropologists and/or economists.
Trust me, you don't want those working on the cure for cancer, leave that to the people trained in chemistry, medicine and/or biology... There is no magic "scientist class", scientists from different diciplines all have completely different degrees and academic backgrounds.
The only way this research could possibly have negatively impacted on the cancer research would be if it had gotten excessive funding, and since this seems to be an online survey, I highly doubt it. Online surveys to be fairly cheap, compared to other research types. Also, judging by the type of survey, I'm pretty sure it researched several other factors as well, and not only the link between hair colour and income.

As a natural blonde, most of my life I have been asked the question "do blondes have more fun"? My standard answer has always been "I don't know, I've never been anything but."

You girls with dark hair--glory in it. Once you start turning gray, you can add the highlights and be a blond if you want--dark hair doesn't look as good next to old skin. Anybody ever notice all the blond old ladies there are out there? Dark hair often equals youth--I sure miss mine.
