I'm not sure if it's the golden hue of my newly (somewhat) tanned skin but lately all I can think of is how I want gold, gold and more gold. Thankfully the options are endless, from rose gold, gold-plated, 24-karat gold, yellow gold to just plain pretty gold. I've searched out some of the best items for you, baby and home.
Trumpette Gold Rhinestone Piggy Bank, $126This rhinestone-covered piggy bank is so Richie Rich. It's a perfect present for all ages, too. Don't you need a gift for those amazing friends who keep letting you crash at their place weekend after weekend this summer?
Express Gold Foil Bikini Top and Bottom, $29.90 & $24.90This is the first gold bikini I've seen that isn't outrageously cheesy. So, unless you decide to wear it with giant gold heels and a belly chain, you're good to go. And if you do consider going that route, do yourself a favor -- don't.
Forever 21 Gold Chain Mail Shoulder Bag, $15.80The perfect bag to wear with cut-offs and a teeny tank top all summer long, but equally fabulous worn for a dressier night out.
Star Wars Mimobot USB Flash Drive, $36I've suddenly realized that my inner nerd is taking over any bit of coolness I may have ever possessed. I see objects like this and go bonkers and immediately think to myself, Who wouldn't be fully in love with this? But really, who? Fashion meets tech meets your favorite childhood movie. Perfection.
HTC Iconics Studded Leather Belt, $250Getting dressed just got a whole lot easier. This badass belt would look amazing with everything you own. Seriously. A super-feminine white summer dress, jeans and a classic button-down shirt, a chic little black dress ... it's endless ease.
Rachel Roy Cargo Romper, $88.90Baggy silk is one of the most comfortable ways to dress yourself in the hot summer sun. This is a go-to item when you just don't know what to wear when the heat reaches record highs.
Arden B Wide Studded Mesh Snap Bracelet, $24Leaving home without a giant mass of bangles or one huge bracelet makes me feel like I walked out of the house totally naked. I must wear bracelets at all times and lately I've even been wearing two identical cuffs, one on each wrist. Makes any simple look a bit more polished.
Midas Golden Cutlery 24-Piece Set, $225My dream is to host a dinner party solely around this gorgeous gold cutlery set. How stunning would these look with an all-white table with tons of candles?
Forever 21 Bella Strap Sandals, $12.80Yes, you do need another pair of sandals. And yes, these are calling your name.
Chanel Le Vernis in Illusion d'Or, $25On a recent photo shoot this color was used on all the models, layered over black. It was beautiful. Try it alone, or create your own masterpiece by mixing with whatever shade you are loving this summer.
Mykita Franz Sunglasses, $525If you were to only purchase one thing this summer, I'd suggest these. They look like a piece of artwork sitting on their own, so just picture how beautiful you'll look with them on your face!
C'Mere Hand Hook, $95Speaking of artwork, I found this incredible Harry Allen hand hook and screamed with joy. It's a cast of the designer's actual hand made of resin and marble. Strong enough to hold a coat or bag. How hilarious would this be in your home? I must must must must have it.
TOMS Bennet Metallica Slip-On, $85If you don't own a pair of TOMS, buy a pair today. Blake Mycoskie is the genius behind the brand that gives a pair of shoes to a child in need every time a pair of TOMS is purchased. One for one. Such an easy way to help those in need. Oh, and did I mention they are incredibly comfortable?
Burberry Stainless Steel Bracelet Watch, $495I hate the idea of wearing a watch in the summer. For me, it's the season without time limits. But if you must know what hour it is, this is the piece to do the job. Big without being gaudy, inexpensive without being cheap, masculine without being manly.
Victoria's Secret Gold Shimmer Ruched Convertible Dress, $79Yes, I can totally imagine the girls from MTV's "Jersey Shore" wearing this dress. But I can also see it on those of you less inclined to be seen wearing rhinestone Ed Hardy tees and shorts. Style it with simple black or flesh-toned heels and small bracelets. The best part of this dress is it can be worn something like 10 different ways. Strapless, V-neck, halter, back-braided ... you basically have 10 dresses in one.
Anthropologie Gold Standard Shorts, $68I close my eyes and see a thousand looks styled around these sweet little shorts. Gauzy white top and lots of turquoise necklaces, black cropped-off-the-shoulder tank with flip-flops, crisp white shirt and uber-high heels ... I could go on and on. Love them.
Guerlain Terracotta Sunless Tinted Self-Tanning Gel, $50If you are staying out of the sun this summer, I salute you. I am too, but find myself sneaking a few rays every now and then. To keep myself content, I bronze up with this oil-based sunless tanner. It truly doesn't streak and looks totally natural, which means no orange lines in crazy places. I even use it on my face over my daily SPF and moisturizer.
Metallic Painting by Susanna, $150Investing in art is a chore. Let's be honest -- the things you see in galleries can blow your mind, but they also tend to blow the bank. Then there are prints, which are great price-wise but never feel personal enough. Etsy has a collection of utterly breathtaking art, like this palette-knife piece, which would automatically make your home feel more, well, homey.
Bec&Bridge Throw-Over Top in Gold, $57A friend wears this tank every day of her life. To the gym, to dinner, to bed. She claims she has six different ones, but I don't believe her. I think she just adores it so much she cannot bear to live a moment in anything else. I don't blame her. It's so good, so easy to wear.
Christian Louboutin Poseidon 120 Pumps, $1,195I wish so badly to buy these, not only for myself, but for every woman who understands the joy of walking in great heels. The world would be a better place, filled with more smiling, more sex, more overall joy. Think I'm totally out of my mind? Go to the store, try on some Louboutins, and then tell me how you feel.
French Connection Organic Oval Gold Ring, $16.91If you refuse to go the whole-body-drenched-in-gold route, try little accents of it with accessories. An oversize gold ring is easy to wear and won't make you feel overly self-conscious like a body-hugging gold dress might.
Tory Burch Ardell Metallic Dress, $495However, if you're looking for a dress to have for long time, to be worn endlessly, this is an amazing investment. Ms. Burch knows a woman's body and oh-so-cleverly concocts perfectly tailored items bound to fit every inch of you.

Its 2010 and I can't believe more people aren't getting a tan. A persons body needs at least 30 minutes of sun to get their vitamin D in for the day. I have found that by walking 2 miles outdoors on sunny days not only gives me my vitamin D but gets me tanned without getting burned and it is not harmful to your skin to be out that little bit of time. Stop believing everything you read or hear about sun screens and sun blocks. They all have cancer causing ingrediants in them. You can't get skin cancer by spending 40 mins. out in the sun at a time.

I thought the article was "What to wear to show off your tan". If so then why are you showing things like a Piggy Bank, an Art Piece for the Wall, some stupid gold hand thing for the table? You better hire new writers if they cannot stick to what the piece is about.

Please, someone explain why the hatred spewed over the Presidents complexion and those Gentiles receiving injections for their lips, buttocks, tanning beds, suntans??? If you were born African-American would you be as proud of your complexion since it would be permanent?
After the tan wore off, would you take your rightful place in the ranks of the "Birthers", "Tea bags" or open denigrating haters? One week subjected to discrimination and intolerance, you'd seek Tom Sawyer with his bucket of fence white wash!

Decent article, but could have been much better if you listed items that are actually affordable, just saying.

MEN WORK HARD to GET TANS TOO!
THERE ARE POOLS PARTIES AND BEACH PARTIENTS. White and yellow even beige: shirts (long or short sleve), walking shorts, and slacks.
suggestings for others?

Honestly ???? ANYTHING WHITE will definitely show off a tan. Just be careful-because although a "tan" may look nice at the time -- all of this extra & extended exposure to the sun, can result in melanoma -or sun cancer ....I had a friend in college, and all thru college , all she did was lay out in the sun , or go to tanning beds... Now , unfortunately, she has sun cancer --she is getting treated for it, & will hopefully live --but she has LEARNED her lesson... Be yourself , tan in moderation....OR use bronzing makeups , and tanning lotions, or just be proud of your beautiful skin that god gave you....I LOVE my fair "peaches&cream skin". Have a happy, safe & fun summer everyone !!!!

Another useless, misleading, pointless article. It's hard to "wear" a gold piggy bank, or a c'mere hand hook, or cutlery or a star wars mimbot. The rest of the ostentatious, pretentious, expensive CRAP is obviously meant for people with more money than brains to buy.

I swear, some of you people are just plain RUDE. No where in the article does it say these are items to wear. I think it's a fun article that strikes a balance between affordable and luxury HEL-LO, Forever 21? Some of you people need to lighten up and get more Vitamin D.
