Sure, wearing our country's colors with pride is a required part of the festivities, but you want to avoid looking like an accidental version of Wonder Woman this Sunday. And with copious amounts of hot dogs and booze on the weekend's horizon, declaring your fashion "independence" with an over-the-top look won't give your packed social calendar the justice it deserves (not to mention your Facebook pics come Tuesday morning).

I tracked down two Washington, D.C.–based style experts to get the DL on just what makes or breaks an awesome Fourth of July outfit.
