Oral sex. In the '90s, we pondered the question, is it really even sex? Today, we know the answer: Does it really even matter? It feels good. And according to a recent survey, the majority of sexually active men and women feel that giving and receiving oral sex is important in a relationship (to which we say: duh).
The same survey also "discovered" that the way you or your partner "tastes" can be a real obstacle to whether you'll get (or give) some south-of-the-border action. Which reminds us of that "Sex and the City" episode where Samantha is bedding a dude whose spunk is funky. She tries to remedy the situation by getting him to imbibe wheat grass juice, a supposed cure, but alas, in true Samantha fashion, she calls it quits and moves on to her next victim before she can test the conclusion of her little experiment.
Too bad there wasn't a pill you could pop that would improve the taste of sexual secretions. Oh, wait! There is! One created by the same company that released the above survey results, natch. Lifestyle Nutrition recently announced the sale of BOP supplements, easy-to-swallow (pun intended) pills formulated with ingredients such as banana, pineapple, vanilla, cinnamon and ginger, which are "delivered through a unique lipid matrix made from flaxseed oil, safflower seed oil and sesame seed oil." Apparently the foods we consume affect the way our bodily secretions taste, and this pill, when taken two hours before sexual intimacy, has been proven to affect the taste of secretions positively. (Where in the world do they find the people to participate in these studies?)
So, what do you think: Would a pill that improves the taste make you more likely to go downtown?

I wouldn't go so far as to say that I would leave my husband if he asked me to perform oral sex, but I don't perform oral sex on my husband and he doesn't perform it on me and two kids later, you better believe our sex life is just fine and dandy without it. I used to perform oral sex on boyfriends and will most likely give it a shot in the future, but the consistency (not the taste) is what made me want to throw up. If you think someone's significant other is going to cheat on them because they won't perform oral sex, you may want to check your own relationships strength because that sounds like a pretty insane reason to leave or cheat on someone you "love" and have vowed your love to. Yes, our bodies are sacred, but so is marriage.

I agree with you, Elie, about the marriage thing. If the person loves you, they will not leave you over oral sex. Oral is very pleasureable and now that I have teen-agers (you're only as old as you feel!, :) ), you can only hope that they will wait for the experience and heep their bodies as temples and not a utensil that anone could utilize! I would encourage any married couple to do it because it will spice up the relationship and one should be able to get off, just knowing that the other person is being pleasured. There is nothing greater to me than making my significant other climax in ANY way I can! (Just wish I could wait 'til were married! LOL!)

Jess, there's more to marriage than sex. My husband does not find me boring at all. I am good at all the things that matter most, I'm a great cook ,housekeeper, and take good care of my kids. And our sex life is not at all boring. We both just like sex the way it was intended. Natural.

@ foday...what is your definition of "Real"? And I wont even touch the African part. However, black men to go south, downtown, eat P&^%y, and love 69. Im almost 50 and have been single most of my adult life and in that time I've dated the whole rainbow of women and from experience I can tell you that black women perform oral sex just as much as any other race. The differences are not racial, but based on experience. There are a lot of sexually ignorant people on this page. Oh, and since this started with taste...just drink a lot of water and use moderation in what you eat.

I can see where Edith-Ann is coming from. I think oral is disgusting also (the taste mostly but also the fact that you're ingesting someone's discharged secretions), but I admit, it needs to be done from time to time. Especially on men. But to say that a man who doesn't receive oral from his mate will cheat on her/him is a stupid statement from a sexually selfish person. My boyfriend knows I hate giving oral sex and never bothers me about it. I do it when and if I want to, whenever the mood strikes me. He says it's worth the wait. And whether I give it to him or not, he always wants to do it on me. He loves doing it, I don't, we work around it. To each his own.

I am 33 and have been with my husband for 11 years. We have a very active sex life and we both enjoy oral sex. I don’t have a gag reflex so that was never a problem for me, but since we are both into fitness we both tend to have a diet consisting of lots of lean protein, fresh veggies, low carbs and healthy fats. This can cause a bitter taste.
