In May of 2009, Sheena Matheiken put on a little black dress. One year later, she's finally taken it off.

Well, kinda. She actually made seven copies of the same dress, then used accessories she found on eBay and Etsy -- or were donated by designers -- to turn it into a different outfit every day for an entire year. That's her, at left, signing off in basic black on day 365.

Truth: The girl is a master accessorizer and her transformation is truly amazing, but to stop there would be to miss the point.

Metheiken embarked on the journey, officially called The Uniform Project, to test her powers of creativity, yes, but also to raise money for the Ankanksha Foundation, working to send children in Indian slums to school, wearing uniforms of their own.

In the end, in just one year, Sheena ponied up $80,607 and sent 223 kids to school. (Hear a message from them here.)

We don't know about you, but we're never going to look at our favorite Little Black Dress the same way again. In meantime, check out a few of her more amazing iterations after the jump.
