According to a recent report, more than 100,000 women in New York admit to practicing anal sex, but only 23 percent of them are using condoms. Worse than that, guys are showing us up -- 61 percent of gay men use condoms when engaging in B-side pleasures. The risk of contracting an STD (including HIV) via anal intercourse is 30 times greater than vaginal. One thing is obvious: These women did not get enough terrifying PSAs in their youth. This is a perfect example of fear-mongering and statistical misrepresentation.
The first 4 statements are factual and informative. Thank you for the information.
But (or butt?).... the conclusion is disconnected, and the supporting information is absent.
On the contrary, there are far too many "terrifying PSA's", and not enough intelligent and informative ones. They are modeled after this article, with cherry picked numbers to prove your agenda and rob the reader of thoughtful analysis.
I don't know several relevant details, and therefore won't write the counter-argument. If I knew them, I would include all details. If I don't, I wouldn't write the article, nor should this individual.
For instance:
a) Are the 77,000 women frequenting gay male bath-houses and bottoming for anonymous men? Or pigging for drug users (the most infected demographic)?
Probably not. Usually the backdoor is the last one to open in a relationship, methinks.
The 3:1 "reported" advantage by gay males is absolutely irrelevant in absence of context. Limit it to one night stand bar pickups and then compare the numbers.
b) PSA's can be good, if they don't insult my intelligence. If they speak half-truths and fearmongering, then don't waste my time. I just have to file them with the shocking! statistic that half of all people are below average in intelligence.
HIV is not the endgame for receptive anal sex. If PSA's were more sensible, all humans could more freely discover the joys and pleasures of their bodies. We can do without the taboos and misguided judgments that still survive from the patriarchal society that considers females as chattel, and represses sexuality as a weapon of control.
