High heels and lip gloss are one thing (ahem, Ms. Suri Cruise), but making padded bikinis for girls as young as 7 is a horse of a trashier color.

British clothing chain Primark was just forced to pull their bikinis with padded tops off shelves after parents and news organizations balked at the swimsuits, which they think will over-sexualize children. The London Sun went so far as to call them "pedophile bikinis" on the front page. Primark promptly yanked the tiny two-pieces and promised to donate all proceeds from that particular line to a children's charity.

But swallow your expletives for just one second: Although this swimsuit was definitely in poor taste, we can see where the company was coming from. We loved to get all gussied up when we were little girls, from pink plastic high heels to "toy" (read: actual) lipstick the color of Pepto. Maybe the difference is that we grew up in an age before the Internet could judge our scandalous choices -- or the paparazzi could immortalize them.

"My sparkly jelly sandals! They were HIGH HEELED, and I was like 8." -- Lindsey W.

"When I was 7 or 8, they had a fad called 'Multiples' that were modular tunics, leggings and cummerbunds. We used to take the cummerbunds and make 'clubbing outfits': cummerbund as a miniskirt, with a cummerbund as a tube top. (Kelly Kapowski was our fashion icon.) The ultimate outfit came when my friend Lisa showed up at my front door one day wearing a 'shirt' that involved crisscrossing two cummerbunds over each shoulder and over her chest. It was amazing. She wore it with her khaki shorts and coke bottle glasses ... to the playground." -- Lindsey E.

"Baby, I was the go-go boot princess. Black and white patent leather. It was the '60s, dontcha know." -- Susan

"My mom let me wear lipstick when I was like 9. Bronze lipstick. I looked like a hooker. This was before I lived in Jersey, so no excuse." -- Diana

"I had a shiny silver miniskirt (bizarrely, bought at The Gap) when I was 10, but I was always sort of a slutty dresser. I had a fringed, leopard-print bikini that probably made me look like the she-male from 'Freaks.'" -- Julieanne

"When I was 7 or so, I heard that song 'Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini' and would NOT shut up till I got one. Well, I did, to the delight of many a pedophile at the Westchester County public pools." -- Nicole

"There is an adorable picture of my sister and me as children, and my sister is wearing a very skimpy halter crop top that barely covers her lack of breasts. She looks like the cutest little hooker. Also, I owned a blue dress with a carousel on it. When you pressed on the dress where THE BREASTS would be, it would play a circus song. A pedophile clearly designed it." -- Emily

"When I was 8 or 9, I used to stretch out the necks of all my sweatshirts so one shoulder stuck out, a la 'Flashdance.' Nooooooooot age-appropriate." -- Bee

"I wore a Playboy bunny T-shirt to high school. I could rationalize that I was doing it to push the limits of my school dress code, which made no sense. (I had to turn a Billabong hoodie that said "BONG" inside-out, and I got sent home for wearing a Hooters T-shirt, but the Playboy bunny shirt was fine?) But let's be honest: It was about attention. I guess my parents were pretty cool not to tell me how to dress, but in hindsight, it's kind of slutty. Well, more trashy than slutty. But hey, back then I was pretty damn skinny and had a hell of a rack, so I guess if there's any time in my life to do so, that was it." -- Erin

"My favorite outfit in sixth grade was a pair of white jeans, a tiny white T-shirt that said 'YES!' in block letters (which I fantasized about pointing to if Josh Koons ever asked me out), and black cowboy half-boots. It wasn't overtly slutty, but I found out later that my T-shirt was see-through and everyone had been mocking my braless breast buds all year." -- Lillie

"All I have to say is: I wore bright red lipstick, blush and hot pants to the first day of kindergarten. And, no I wasn't an orphan. Mom?!" -- Carrie
