Pixie Chicks
Spring has sprung, and suddenly the pixie cut is the hottest hairstyle in Hollywood. But if you dare wear short hair, don't take the scissors to your head until you've seen these amazing celebrity before and afters. You just may want to take one to your stylist.

Hollywood Loves the Pixie Cut
Born in Iowa, actress Jean Seberg went on to star as Joan of Arc, in 1957's "Saint Joan," as well as in French hits, "Bonjour Tristesse" and Jean Luc Godard's "Breathless." Linked to everyone from French directors and diplomats to Clint Eastwood, her other claim to fame was the signature pixie she wore throughout.

When Mia Farrow played the cursed Rosemary in the 1968 cult classic, "Rosemary's Baby," she sported both long and short hair during the movie. But she's best-known for letting Vidal Sassoon take her from superlong to supershort, reportedly much to the chagrin of then-husband Frank Sinatra.
Hollywood Loves the Pixie Cut
Carey Mulligan may be new on the Hollywood scene, but the English actress earned nothing less than a Best Actress nomination after her star turn in "An Education." See her again soon in "The Greatest" -- which is just what we think of her cute, short cut.
Hollywood Loves the Pixie Cut
When Natalie Portman had to shave her head for 2005's "V for Vendetta," everyone agreed: There are few humans with the bone structure to pull that off. This cropped 'do definitely suits her better than the Sinead O'Connor -- but the girl just can't help looking good.
Hollywood Loves the Pixie Cut
Katie Holmes clearly likes high fashion, but with Suri to tend to, she also needs a wash-and-wear 'do. This look keeps her looking chic and together, even on a coffee run or en route to an A-list playdate.
Hollywood Loves the Pixie Cut
The first hairstyle French actress Audrey Tautou can take credit for launching was the "Amelie" bob. But the effortlessly chic "Coco Before Chanel" star seems to gravitate to a super-spunky pixie cut on the red carpet. Oui like!
Hollywood Loves the Pixie Cut
Ginnifer Goodwin, who starred as the hopelessly romantic Gigi in "He's Just Not That Into You" and is Bill's youngest wife in HBO's "Big Love," likes to switch up between a wavy bob and this pixie cut ... we give Big Props to the short crop.
Hollywood Loves the Pixie Cut
Mia who? You won't be saying that for long. Wasikowska played nothing less than Alice in Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland." While she had long golden locks for the lead role, she's apparently decided this new cropped 'do might turn more heads on the red carpet.
Hollywood Loves the Pixie Cut
Victoria Beckham believes in taking fashion risks, and the tiny starlet takes the same approach to her hair. Cropping her locks from the long tresses she sported in the Spice Girls days makes her "posh" with minimal effort.
Hollywood Loves the Pixie Cut
Michelle Williams has rocked long blond hair in movies like 2008's "Deception" and this year's "Shutter Island." But when she's spending her days running after daughter, Matilda, the pixie cut gives the petite mom one less thing to worry about.

They all look 100% better. Long stringy hair does nothing for anyone at any age. Just sloppy.

For sure not every one can wear long hair. Especially over the hill 40 year old twinky hogs. Pixie cuts are either "give up, I won't take the time to look nice" or just a lesbian wanna be, who can't get it out in the open.

You sound like a horses arse with hemorroids who can't get a date..what an absurd comment... Men can have short or long hair and still be handsome..Same goes for women..Many beautiful women have short hair....I've had my hair both long and short..and to be honest, I get more second glances with my hair short..I am no lesbian..very feminine and considered good looking..Any man who wastes his time coming on a site like this to make a blanket statement about all women with short hair must be a real prize, that's all I can say.

Most women with really short hair look stupid. Really stupid. How about the round women who cut their hair really short? They look like they have shrunken heads! People are just too afraid to say what they think so they keep quiet and the uglies think they are right.

I am a 40+ woman with very long hair. I keep it clean, and in good condition. Growing up my mom always cut my hair in a pixie and I hated it. Some woman can pull off short hair, many woman can't, I can't pull off short hair, even when I am 70+ I will have long hair, to the middle of my back.

its a strange feeling i have.. i do find it cute, but i could not pull it off.. u have to have a certain kind of face to do a pixie look... i can't go shorter than neck length or i will look like a butch.. i have stronger features.. all these actresses are so small and dainty with little features... i have come to find most men dont like this look.. and I guess i can get it.. when you think of a traditional womanly look, long hair is pretty much an obvious... its sensual and soft.. my husband would not talk to me if i cut my hair into a bob lol let alone pixie

I think the style is cute. I am so sick of the stereotypes that women should have long hair and men clean cut short. I think women with short hair is empowering and they looks so awesome if they style it up right. Punk/Edgy.
I happen to find men with long hair very attractive as well. So this standard society crap is B.S.
I'm a woman, I've had both really long hair (like now) and I had it cut off a couple of times a few years back. I liked it. It was cooler, was fun to style, and a hell of a lot easier to take care of! (less time in the shower cleaning it, or brushing it.) I think it made me more creative, Ha Ha. I had a lot of compliments on it as well.
Yes, you do need the certain kind of face to pull it off, but I believe if you have it styled a certain way anyone can pull it off.

First of all, I love how people (mostly men) think the worst thing you could possibly call someone is a homosexual of either gender. Right. That's the WORST possible thing you could be, rather than say---a cheat, a liar, a serial killer perhaps, or an ignorant, arrogant FOOL, (like the insulting commenters must be).
I love pixie cuts, but to pull them off, you have to have small, fine features and be petite in stature. Mind you, this is just a general rule; there are some women who pull it off and have neither of those characteristics. It takes a lot of guts, especially in THIS society, to wear this look and I commend them for it. There is no more stunningly beautiful woman on TV right now than the actress who plays the alien, Anna, on "V". She ROCKS the pixie cut.
As for the remark by one commenter, who said that people are afraid to speak up and the "uglies" think they're right? I don't find that to be true at all. The REAL uglies never fail to open their fat yaps and demonstrate their ignorance to the world, particularly in anonymous situations such as these message boards. Perhaps your long hair is smothering some brain cells.

How about those of us who are recovering from chemo and can't get our hair to grow as long as it used to be. Are we gay just because our hair is out of our control?

can't understand why some folks have to be so nasty.says alot about them.I agree that not everyone looks better with short hair. But petite delicate feminine features are really enhanced by a pixie. Some gals look better with a major mane.masculine features ,or a large build needs long hair usually to stay femine looking. It's all about balance.Short hair exposes the face neck and ears.if theses are feminine, they pixie cut excenuates these features.Regardless though, anyone who wants the ease and comfort should give it a try at least once. Some people are so afraid of change, they become prisoners of a rediculouse dated look.Think Donald Trump.I have dated (and married one0 many gals with short hair.they tend to be more daring,in every way.Ignore the homophobes, express yourself.

I pull it off every day. All of you who have made nasty comments - who cares what YOU think. What's important is if I like my hair.
To those of you who have lost your hair from chemo or other reasons, hair is highly overrated. Be brave, wear lots of makeup and big earrings and this too shall pass. You all know what's important and it's not what you look like.

I don't like short hair. Never have, never will. I don't think it is attractive. It isn't flattering to most women, and is very aging to older women. Even those women who can pull it off will look better with longer hair. For those who like the style, great, but it isn't for me.
