The girls at i heart daily turned us on to the brilliance of Reknit. Here's the idea: You mail your old sweater and $30 to this guy named Haik at Reknit; his mom unravels it and knits it into something new; Reknit sends it back to you.

The "something new" changes every month. For example, Haik's mom used her knitting-needle magic to transform sweaters into hats for the month of March.


What's up for April? That depends on how you voted. At the bottom of their homepage, Reknit offers four choices (e.g., a laptop sleeve, a baby jacket, socks, etc.). The winning choice -- looks like it will be the laptop sleeve -- will be Haik's mom's new project for the following month.

Think of these as limited-edition works of art: As the site explains, "Because I only have one mom, we've decided to limit orders to the first 30." So get your orders in early this month! Like, now.
