Is your guy a poster child for the mountain-man aesthetic? If so, you're not alone. Though facial hair may seem to be a relatively insignificant factor in a relationship, a bevy of issues arise when you date a dude who takes serious pride in the forest on his face: Namely, that painful, tell-tale makeout rash.
Below, a handful of testimonials from valiant women who date the scruffy-faced.
"Beard burn is annoying, but I'd rather get burned from a sexy lumberjack's beard than a hipster mustache... just sayin." -- Rachel @ Tech Coquette
"I thought I had herpes because I broke out with a disgusting rash all over my lips right after I started dating my boyfriend. I went to the doctor, and he asked me a few questions and determined it was his beard that was giving me the rash! My guy was really nice about it -- I explained the situation and he offered to shave it off, no questions asked." -- Kiersten
"I dated one [guy with morning stubble] for quite a while, and went though the lengths of getting him some Burt's Bees shave cream (before he just shaved with water because he wanted to be organic) to help soften the stubble, and even offered to get him a shave mug, soap, and brush because I heard using a brush led to a closer shave.
"I won't say that the stubble was THE cause of our breakup, but it certainly didn't help our intimacy at all. Between a red burning face from making out, or not being able to relax when he was, ahem, under the sheets (you think stubble is painful on the face!) Things were just uncomfortable." -- Jamie
"OMG I've been trying to get my bf to shave regularly for like, months now. I hate having to go home with my face throbbing, and having irritated skin the next day. Not to mention the slight peeling since my skin is already so sensitive. Oh and also, going home to a painfully traditional mother and trying to hide the redness kinda sucks. Good grief boys, get it together." -- Cecilia
"My boyfriend likes to rock the small chin beard/ soul patch/ chin fuzz. It gives a masculine feel to his baby face. He is allowed to have that and I really like it on him, however, when him and I are spending time together, the rest of the stubble has to go. Getting poked in the face by a four day old mustache is not fun. I even bought him a nice razor and a special conditioning shave cream called coochy. The name is ridiculous but never before has he had such a smooth shave. The stubble is dirty looking and painful. Get rid of it." -- Chrissy

Facial hair is only annoying to me when it is sharp and prickly, right around the 2 day mark. Thats why I like guys with huge beards.

women go for the hair face -- if women did not "Fawn" all over the scruffy look men would clean up in heart beat.

Oh gee...my old boyfriend would shave every day, but depending on what time of day I say him, there would be a bit of stubble. I actually didn't mind it. Of course a couple of times, it did make the skin on my face quite tender, but hey...it was all worth it! ;D The only time stubble really ever hurt was when his older brother hugged me. I had four parallel scratches on my face for about a week. Putting on make up sucked!!

Stubble and beards are amazing. Men are meant to be men and have them. The one comment in the article by the chick saying she allows her man to have facial hair totally disgusted me. What a tool (seriously, the chick mostly, but the dude for being led by the nose by his chick). There isn't a chick alive who hasn't had a crush on some hottie with stubble or some kind of awesome facial hair. What gets me is mutton chops on guys with stubble. RAWR!

I love my boyfriends facial hair. He looks so sexy but unfortunately the rash it gives me isn't sexy at all. I woke up to small itchy red bumps on my face, neck, and breast. I havent told him yet. Is there any way to prevent this without him shaving?
