Ask for an Irish Car Bomb at some bars this St. Patrick's Day and you might get turned away. The combination of Irish stout, Irish Cream liqueur and Irish whiskey (usually Guinness, Bailey's and Jameson) is considered offensive because of its name, which comes from the weapon the Irish Republican Army (IRA) regularly deployed in its battles, once exploding 22 cars in

It's the name of a drink, just like sex with an alligator, red headed sluts, and all the other crazy names people come up with. People really need to learn how to let things go and focus on the more important things in life.

to people whose relatives died or were injured in those car bombings and all of the violence that went with them - this isn't just the name of a drink. almost like naming something the 9/11 - obviously that would not be okay at all

For all of the people who think its okay to use the term "Irish Car Bomb" I suggest they go ahead and live on the Falls Road or the Shankhill Road in Belfast. Or better yet, if one of your relatives, were killed or wounded by one of these, how would you feel? It makes no difference if you are Catholic or Protestant. So many decent people have been affected by the violence in Ulster. Its just another sign of how detached Americans are when it comes to certain things. And I can say that because I was born here and my Mother, who is Irish, came to this Country to find a better life. In no way am I trying to disrespect those who perished in 9/11 or the families who have suffered, but how would an American feel if they served a drink called a 9/11 in another country? And finally, for all of those so called "Irish Americans" who brag about there heritage, what generation Irish are you? You go around bantering about the English being in Ireland and you collect money for what? To keep something going that you have no clue on. Bet you have never been to Ireland and that you couldn't even find it on a map.
