Stressed guys are attracted to their oppositesGuy of your dreams not digging you? Maybe you should turn off his alarm clock while he's sleeping and start blasting Rammstein when he's not expecting it, because it turns out stress can change the types of women men are attracted to.

According to new research, when guys were physically stressed -- in case you're wondering, participants' hands were plunged into a bowl of "painfully" cold water -- they were more likely to be attracted to women who looked different from themselves. (A test for stress hormone cortisol on their saliva confirmed that the cold water freaked them out.) The guys who put their hands in non-stressful, room-temperature water were attracted to women who looked more like them.

This might be because people are generally attracted to people with similar physical attributes to their own, but since genetic diversity is associated with physical hardiness, guys under duress might subconsciously seek out more varied DNA to assure their offspring make it to adulthood.

So if the short guy of your dreams falls into a frozen lake, try enhancing your height with a pair of wedge heels. Oh, and like, call for help, we guess.
