Puppy cam, you're a formidable foe ... but the Smithsonian National Zoo's streaming video library may just have you beat.

Their 21 animal webcams are more or less a gold mine of adorableness ... as well as one of the biggest time suckers we've ever encountered.

The thing is, the cams are stationary, so you just have to sit there watching ... waiting ... waiting ... until -- BAM! -- that perfect moment when the sloth bear finally wanders into the frame. And in that moment -- whether it's a ferret or a clouded leopard cub or a kiwi -- you'll know in your heart that it was more than worth the wait.
