Bella DePaulo, a professor and badass advocate for single people, makes the case for same-sex figure skating couples in Psychology Today. Her theory: Keeping pair sports heteronormative encourages "the idea either you are in a boy-girl couple or you are alone." I think it would be cool! Imagine the strength it would take to pull off those throwing moves with a partner of roughly the same size, and how different the choreography would be without a 'romantic' storyline being told through the routine!

I completely agree. It would make the sport more athletic, but perhaps the MM pairs would have to compete separately from the MF, just due to the difficulty being ramped up so much (lifts and throws!)

Who cares? You people are supposed to be watching the art of skating, not fantasizing about the skaters love lives. If a guy or a gal wants to skate with a bare@$$ed baboon, let 'em skate! Especially if the baboon is really good at it.
