Business travel is often portrayed as tedious -- and it is! But this Japanese commercial for an online travel service makes it look adorable and whimsical -- just what you need when staring down a new workweek.(You don't even have to choose between this and a coffee run: It only takes 13 seconds to watch.)
The gist of the ad? Send a cat on your business trip instead. This hardworking, gainfully employed kitty travels in style, thanks to the Web site.
(But, um, any Japanese-speaking readers out there want to weigh in on what this all means?)
Now if we could only convince our lazy cats to get off the couch, don some work clothes and help pay the rent. Enjoy!

translation:
" I am ... meow.
Today it seems I'm going on a business trip.
[paws over business card... he's Nyaran from the sales division]
It's going up!
[powerpoint: Nyaran's paw-shaped buns / Sales UP!]
[chanting: business trip, business trip, business trip...
[kitty: makes a refreshed sound]
Even business trip hotel reservations.
[singing website name: Jaran]"
so that's what it says. as for what it all means? you got me.
i'm sure both the name of the website and the name of the cat are cute and punny, but you need a better Japanese expert than i to explain that part.
all i can tell you is that the cat's name is a play on 'meow.'

"Jaran" is the name of a Japanese travel magazine and website, and the cat is their mascot.

To me it looks kind of like an ad for a Japanese search engine like google or ask? Or maybe a flight and hotel booking service? Either way, i wish we had cute commercials like that in America.

jalan.net is a hotel reservation site (I guess the hotels.com of Japan) and so they're just trying to get the word out that you can book your business trips as well
it seems their Winter 2010 ad campaign is about business trips and features the cat. (I haven't lived in Japan in ages so I don't know if the cat is their mascot or just for this particularly ad campaign, but some youtube searching makes it look like it's been their mascot for awhile)

I live in Japan and have seen this ad several times over the past few weeks. The translation Deer supplied is right. I think the "cat" theme came in from the "ran" part of the company name since the "ran" of Jaran can slide into the "nyan" (meow) sound that cats make in Japan. My conjecture, but it sounds right.

Yes, deer is correct with all the translation, as is John with his input. Finally, I want Nyaran as my pet. O.o cuuuute!
