Dawn Del Russo is a fashion stylist and owner of Bella Dawn boutique. Toni Ferrara is a celebrity fashion stylist and fashion editor. We asked these shopping pros for tips on how to clean out our closet and shop smarter.
Lemondrop asks: What do we do about our nightmarish, disorganized closets?
Dawn answered: Take an inventory of your clothes at the end of each season. Discard the clothes you didn't touch. Then, organize those clothes, shoes and accessories that you are keeping. Try arranging them according to styles, colors, type of clothing (sweater, pant, etc.).
For those of you with roomy closets, a great way to organize shoes is to keep them in their boxes and attach to the outside photos of the shoe style. Handbags can also be arranged like your clothes according to color and style, with designer bags in protective covers. A cute way to store scarves and accessories is to place them in hat boxes which double as decoration.

Toni answered: Get rid of clothing you haven't worn in the past year! Make four piles:
The "keep" pile: Keep basics and building blocks such as a great blazer, pencil skirt, jeans, wrap dress, a few solid blouses and a few patterned tops.
The "repair" pile: Repair the items in your closet that will enhance your current wardrobe and that you have been meaning to get fixed.
The "donate" pile: Donate gently used clothing to Goodwill or a thrift store in your area. With the economy the way it is right now, there are a lot of people who can't afford designer duds.
The "toss" pile: Toss out any clothing that is faded, torn, irreparable and/or stained. This will make room for the new, trendy clothing that you will purchase to brighten up your closet!
