Almost 40 percent of teens admit to sexting, which obviously makes most parents uncomfortable. But the company behind TASER has introduced a new family safety platform called Protector. We're not sure which is worse -- sexting or parents having "1984"-like control over their kid's every move.
Besides, if a PSA of James Lipton's magical beard and velvety "Inside the Actor's Studio" voice can't stop them, can anything?
Protector will give parents the ability to manage their kids' contact lists, track their location via GPS, even monitor driving habits -- all from the convenience of a smartphone, smart TV or computer. They can also set it up to automatically limit the cell phone's functionality while their kid is driving. Pretty sneaky, huh?
True, some of these features make sense from a safety standpoint. But do you think that some of the others are overkill?

Wow... People have survived perfectly fine for years before cells phones came along, why does your teenager need with a cell? I'm barely out of my teen years and think it's absolutely absurd that teenagers even have them. If you don't want them sexting, don't buy them the phone... or is that too simple?

I think your wrong because teens should have cell phones. They are a great way to keep in touch and even if you don't use yours, it doesn't mean other teens should suffer from your opinion.

Its so lame for people to go all overkill like that. Its like teens arent allowed to have a social life anymore. If teens are addicted to texting, than obviously you should put limits on it. Some parents just like to have too much control. And cell phones are a great way to keep in touch with friends and get quick information about after school activities. Its just easier if you have a cell phone in the first place.

just watching Taser's scare tactic videos makes me laugh. I personally am against this product and feel that its just another ploy for a company to make money by scaring you into buying their product so that you can "protect your children". Fox News, fair and balanced. Yeah Right!!!

The whole idea of limiting your children has taken over. Blocks on tv, computers, and now cell phones. Im 25 and grew up without all these blocks. I'm doing great in life. My parents took their time and talked to me about things. Like sex. By being reasonable and patient they made theirs and my life a lot easier. I definitely got into trouble but I learned. My thought is that parents need to back off a little bit especially on teens. Give them room let them make the mistakes and learn. Dont overly restrict them let them become who they want to. Just my advise dont go overboard on the restrictions.

Sexting is something parents have to live with.If you try to enforce control ,teens will find a way out to circumvent you. Please read my blog on ‘what a father must do?’
