You can have your cake. You can eat it. But when you embezzle nearly three-quarters of a million dollars to pay for it, you can also expect to spend some time in jail. The truth of the matter, though, is that if Joanne Kent hadn't made one tiny little error, she would have gotten away with embezzling that much money, and all of her friends would have spent the rest of their lives wondering how she paid for the complimentary cliff-top hotel (not rooms -- the entire hotel), fireworks displays and free Armani bracelets that made her wedding completely over the top.
Of course, now they all know how she did it -- she stole almost $750,000 from work by depositing it into her bank account under the guise of payments to other firms. She finally slipped up by making a large "payment" to a U.S. firm (actually her bank account) in pounds sterling instead of dollars.
Kent was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison, a sentence which was reduced to two years on account of her two small children, one of whom is only 8 weeks old and has hip problems. There will be a separate hearing to determine if the money can and will be paid back, so it looks like her bridesmaids better enjoy those bracelets while they last.

Let this be a lesson to you, stupid people should NEVER try to embezzle money. This is a crime for only the most brillent of people. I don't mean to be cruel or insulting but I guess what I'm saying will be. If she stole this much money, then she could at least have used it to look incredibly beautiful on her wedding day. The picture isn't the greatest to see her gown and things but in my opinion, what she's wearing looks AWFUL. She's definitely not the best looking bride I've ever seen. And if you use 3/4th of a million dollars, you should look damn good. Actually this is very shocking to me, it's usually either the bottle blond redneck bimbo that wants the outrageous over the top tactic wedding OR, the fashion model peppy little cheerleader type that wants to shock and show off to all her friends who do this sort of thing to have that platinum wedding. She doesn't fit either mold. I wonder what her new husband thinks? How fast is the divorce or annulment going to take? I'm also wondering if she still think all this was worth it. I seriously doubt this company will ever see all their money back. First, who's going to hire her in a high paying responsible position after this? No one! For the rest of her life she'll be working the dead end job circut and barely make above minimum wage. I wouldn't hire her, would you? Even after all these years I can still be amazed at the stupidity of people in this world. Sometimes I think God must just sit there and shake his head wondering how his creations got this bad.

Greedy companies steal and shortchange consumers all the time. Today, even purchasing groceries is a rip off. I sorry she didn't get away with it, but she got too greedy and she would not have stopped. Whenever she needed money, she would have dipped back in.

Wow! I bet you she will do her slap-on-the wrist time, come back to her family, get another chance working somewhere else and even join in casting stones with fake stats as to how ALL Black people are criminals. Tyra Banks visited a womens' prison and there was a Black woman in jail for LIFE for shop-lifting. Both these women are criminals, only difference is one is a big-time thief while the other is a petty thief but amazingly the petty thief for some reason is a bigger criminal than the big-time thief if that makes any sense. That's why DIVINE JUSTICE trumps human justice which is so flawed.

Looks like she spent quite a bit on food, what a whale. I can't believe some of you don't think her criminal behavior is so bad. Jesus, what's happening to people? There are so many dishonest thieving people these days. People who take Disability when they are perfectly capable of working, welfare clients who take the money for life and keep on having kids, unemployment payments taken when some don't even look for a job; the list goes on and on. This kind of behavior is stealing and stealing from the rest of us who support ourselves. With such self-entitled dishonest people roaming around (and the problem is getting worse) there is no hope for us as a society. Sickening!

She stole the money to put on a show to impress others and feed her ego. Think of the financial damage she did to her employers whose only crime was hiring and trusting her and the fact that they probably will not be trusting other innocent employees in the future. Her sentence was too light.
