Conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh, 59, and his gal pal are catching some flack for publicizing the details of his heart trouble in Hawaii last week. It was his party-planner girlfriend, Kathryn Rogers, 33, who called 911 after Limbaugh called her saying he thought he was having a heart attack. Rogers, who was getting her nails done with her mom when Limbaugh went into distress, told Page2Live:
"Due to Rush's [hearing loss], we don't often speak over the phone, more via email and text ... When I saw that he was calling, I thought that's weird he never calls. I answered with my one free hand."
While docs later said Limbaugh didn't have a heart attack, Rogers said "timing was extremely important ... We believe strongly the quick action on the part of the security team at the hotel and the paramedics resulted in Rush being OK today."
Readers are poking fun at -- and holes in -- the story, which Rogers says she revealed to encourage others in similar situations to get help quickly.
"A 'girlfriend', who gives out such detailed personal information, seems intent on PR campaign for herself," says commenter obie one. "... Rush, you got a potential problem with this chick. Cut and run."
Phae says, "Why hasn't he called 911 himself and instead called her when she was getting her nails done. It would be more believably if she was in the room with him when he asked her to call. It's almost like she's using her mother as a alibi, but wants credit for saving him."
Rogers' story may not paint her or her relationship in the brightest of lights, but her reasons for sharing it aren't necessarily nefarious. First off, it may not be entirely uncommon for someone to call a loved one rather than 911 during a suspected heart attack.
"You would be surprised at how many people call someone they love before they call 911. When I thought I was having a heart attack, I called my daughter. It was just instinct," says commenter Jan.
Also, the couple was on vacation during the holidays, a circumstance where normal folk, not just celebrities, might be at the spa or salon. Would readers be more sympathetic had Rogers said she was in the middle of cleaning a toilet bowl with a toothbrush instead of having her nails done when Rush called?
Maybe in the end, this is just another example of how we never know how we're going to act in an emergency until it happens.

If you were to listen to Rush rather than just being an idiot Lib you would know that he talked about this today on his show. He does not have insurance. He paid for everything with cash. He does have enough money to do that. I am sure you will hold that against him, being wealthy and all, but he covered the entire incident today. There is no reason not to believe him.
I am sure that you know more about the situation than he does since you are a Lib. You know all and what ever libs say is the truth.....(sarcasm). Get over it. He had a medical emergency. He called the woman he loves and got help. He paid for it with his own money that he earned from his job. No, Limbaugh doesn't have health insurance. He chooses not to. He paid out of pocket for his services. His body, his choice. Limbaugh can afford not to have it, unfortunately, not everyone can.
