We're all stoked about the upcoming Joan Jett movie because let's face it, the lady revolutionized rock n' roll. What we're not so stoked about is the casting of Kristen Stewart. (Yep, the chick with those weird faces from "Twilight" fame. You may already know how some of us here at Lemondrop feel about her.) Well, the trailer for the movie is now out, and unfortunately we can't tell in 49 seconds if K-Stew kills it or ruins it. But we vowed to be less judge-y in 2010, so we'll just let you fine folks make the call: total miscasting or is Bella the new Joan?
Oh, and one last thought -- when the hell did little Dakota Fanning grow up? Enjoy!

Joan Jett! Get real people. Isaw her in concert, and that was only because she toured with The Who. Pat Benetar (sp?) was way cooler than Joan Jett. To make a movie about her!?? Somebody's getting real hungry!

Hooray for Joan Jett! She and the runaways broke the mold! She didn't care about being girlie, but yet still was. She played hard rock and was the equal of any man in the business! None of that 80's foo-foo for them, just gold old Rock! It's so good to see a movie telling how it really was - in a 'man's' world!

Joan Jett & The Runaways paved the way for Pat Benatar & all the other female rockers since. Joan Jett IS the queen of Rock N Roll! Looking forward to the movie!

How did Joan Jett pave the way for Pat Benatar when she had a hit song years before Joan Jett did?

Any of you experts ever hear of Grace Slick? Lita Ford? Joan Jet was ok but not the rock "goddess" you seem to think she was. Believe me...I was there.

I bet they intentionally made the trailer 50 seconds so nobody would be able to see how terrible she'll be. She even looks terrible. I hope Dakota Fanning out acts her enough to embarrass her enough that she'll quit acting. Wishful thinking? Maybe :)

"Joan Jett revolutionized Rock n' Roll!!?" Bullshit!!!
I liked the Runaways but they were pretty untalented girls trying to play hard rock, actually they were not very good at all.
They did improve with age but the main attraction was the sexcy teenage girl angle. This is the truth, I bought all the Lps in the day for the same reason and as a record dealer I still buy and sell alot of Runaways, not so much Joan Jett,
As a band the Runaways were unique visually, musically nothing more than an average high school garage band. A film on the band would be interesting...maybe, but a film about JJ who really gives a shit. I think all the Runaways deserve some recognition not just Joan.

I am very excited to see this new Kristen Stewart movie! People really should not just connect her to the twilight movies she has done some amazing work. The Cake Eaters is one of the best performances I have scene and her role in Panic Room was great so I know that playing Joan Jett will just be another great perfomance form her!

Of course she will ruin this movie she ruins every movie she is in she has no talent. She is the exact same in every movie she has no skills what so ever. And it sucks that they keep casting her in movies because I cant stand to watch her she is so annoying.

Geeez, people are so very sure they're right in their opinions, they never consider differing views. From the trailer, it looks as though Kristen is dead on, at least in her version of Joan's persona. As far as questioning the making of a movie about the Runaways, American Rock-n-Roll doesn't get any more American than these women. Theirs is the classic story. They're still at it and still rock the house. No, they may not be one of the all time biggest money-makers or a band relegated to God-like status in the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame, but what they are is PURE. If you disagree, ok. You may be right, but for my money, I think this story has been a long time coming and will be welcome on my screen anytime. ~ Nemo

The Runaways set the tone for all hard rock girl bands and girls in rock, period(that is not to say they were THE first girl band in rock history). Lets not forget they were mere teenagers when they started out and made some decent music for their age at the time. I still enjoy listening to their music as well as Joan's, Cherie's and Lita's. Can't wait to see the movie. I hope Sandy is looking down on this and saying FINALLY, A MOVIE! I agree, Sandy, RIP, and long live The Runaways!
