Looking for love? Follow your nose! It turns out women may be able to detect whether or not a man is attracted to them just by the smell wafting from his pits.According to research led by Dr. Denise Chen at Rice University, women could tell the difference between sweat collected from a guy who was watching educational videos, and that from a guy who was watching porn.
Although the women in the study did not realize that they were responding to the porn sweat, sensors that were monitoring their brain patterns could tell because different regions of the brain were lighting up, suggesting that subconsciously we can all tell the difference between a dude who smells and a dude who smells like he wants us.
So the next time you're at a bar and you find yourself for some reason feeling certain that a dude is attracted to you, maybe it's not the margaritas talking -- maybe it's the guy's armpits.

this makes perfect sense.. we might think we're all civilised and different, but we're just mammals and smell is a bit factor in mammallian mating. There is scientific evidence that smell is a factor in how we pick our mates, as biologically we're more drawn to the smell of members of the opposite sex (or probably the same sex in gay people, though i don't know if there has been research) who are genetically different to us in the MHC region (involved with antibody production, the more variation between parents, the more different building blocks to product antibodies from the more healthy the offspring) which also handily explains (among many other reasons) why we are unlikely to be attracted to close family members as they will share many of the MHC building blocks so any offspring will have less variety of antibodies available and be less healthy. It doesn;t surprise me that if our initial attraction is affected by smell what follows may also be influenced by that. In real life I know that I was attracted to my boyfriend the minute we met, and vice versa, and he has always smelled right to me, even though we didn't initially seem to have much in common. I've not consciously noticed knowing he was aroused by smell (there is usually a much more obvious sign ;0) ) but this would be a subconscious thing after all and I do know what kind of mood he is in without any verbal cues. I have also noticed I am aroused by his smell and that he seems to be much more in tune with these things and knows when I'm in a 'good mood' (read horny) from quite a distance away without any visual clues and apparently when I'm ovulating I smell especially good, which makes sense too.. ;0)

Oh yeah all true. My husband thinks its weird but I love the way he smells when hes all sweaty. It relaxes me. Especially around the neck and chest area. And as I smell I can sometimes notice the smell getting stronger as he gets, Happier, so to speak. But yeah smell is a very important sexual factor. Or why else would the perfume industry be so big. They put all kind of hormones in perfume.
