tree-foggyIntuition expert Laura Day says you can use your brain to achieve just about anything -- including talking to the dead, as she wrote about yesterday.

Some Lemondrop readers raised a figurative eyebrow at her claims, like Martins who says, "I talk to the dead all the time. It's when they begin talking back that there's an issue." However, a few of you jumped in the conversation with your stories of feeling the presence of the deceased.

M: "I have seen spirits since I was little. I believe the gift came after a near death experience. Even though I see them I still agree w/the Lilli & what she said about the Bible. People should not invite them in. 99.9% of the dead that come to me are those who have not crossed over. Mostly murders, etc. They take me through the violent reinactment of their deaths. This is not fun! Nor did I ever ask for this so please be careful. If your looking for a relative that is fine...watch for the signs that they give you but don't ever go asking for the unknown because that is exactly what you get."

Susan Michael:
"On August 6, 2009, my husband's best friend (affectionatly referred to his little brother) passed away very quickly of a rare and aggressive form of cancer at the age of 67. He passed at 3:30 a.m. The following morning, my husband had a voice message on his cell phone. All it was the word PEACE spoken by his deceased friend. I heard it and my husband played it for numerous family members and friends to hear. Unfortunately, he did not re-record it and it disappeared from the phone memory. Another incident happened 2 weeks ago also. I had an incident happen to me in 1997, after my Mother passed. I am a believer and my husband and I are going to explore this option."

Burntbronz: "When my Dad died, i could swear he was still lurking around, coming in and out of my daughter's room, yanking down the window blinds. Sometimes I would talk to him, but my mother said I shouldn't because, I probably was talking to a spirit stuck in limbo or something. Your grief sometimes makes you want to reach out to your deceased loved ones, but you might be getting more than you bargained for."

Taylor's Mom: "My son is dead. He was 17 when he died in a tragic freak accident. I used to love organized religion, not anymore. When your child dies, you become one with the world - it is SUCH A DISTINCT DIFFERENCE that the changes in your life amaze you. I haven't really tried this myself, but I DO go to mediums (verified ones like Allsion D., Laurie Williams, etc.) and they have brought me great comfort."

Bart:
"I have had this experience numerous times the last few years (I am 57) but I did not know how or why it was happening. It is always in the morning after I wake up but it is not everyday. maybe once or twice a month. I can "feel" the presence of people and i have always known it is my mother or mother-in-law. I have not heard any words spoken from them but I get a feeling of knowing what they are trying to tell me."

Ellen Wilkerson: "I am 74. About six years ago I met a man online and we fell in love. I had no idea he was ill and we never met.We played games on net and just talked about how life would be. One morning I got a call from his son saying that his father had died the night before. We had a fight and I was mean to him. When he died, I cried so hard and prayed that God would send him back so we could make up. While talking to his son on IM I got this strange message that only his father and I knew and I asked him "Did you say that?" he said no.I told him that only his father and I said that to each other. He said it must have been dad. When we were through, I got an IM saying that it was him and I asked him how he could IM me and he said you asked God and he sent me. He also went to my best friend as she was having a problem that God did not want her to continue. This was not like how I had been brought up but I believed and so did she. I no longer hear from him but I know he is here."
