Oh, so you think your morning commute is bad? Well, did a man follow you off the bus and steal your teeth this morning? Because that is pretty much the worst.As if you needed another reason to hate taking the bus, that's exactly what happened to Elena Aronson (pictured), a San Francisco native, whose pearly whites apparently resembled "the moon and stars" to the Muni's demented version of the Tooth Fairy.
The man looked Elena right in the face and told her he wanted her teeth, and he followed her off the bus, attacked her, and pried her two front teeth from her mouth to prove it.
After seven months of trying, police finally agreed to take a statement from Elena, allowing her to apply for money from the District Attorney's victim assistance program to help pay for the $11,500 of hospital bills she accrued after the attack that her insurance won't cover. And here we thought taking the bus was supposed to save you money.
Aronson provided enough detail to produce a sketch of the alleged culprit, but tells the San Francisco Chronicle that she doubts an arrest ever will be made.

Insurance wouldn't pay? It's not like she rotted them out from smoking or never going to the dentist! Some FREAK mental case yanked them out of her head!!!!! That's insane! The mental nut should be found and locked up for life and the insurance company should be forced to pay her for her dental bills AND mental anguish for not paying in the first place after a tramatic incident!
JERKS! I'm real sick and tired of insurance companies! Someone has to crack down on those idiots once and for all! Pharmacy companies too!

This article doesnt give all the facts that the local paper did. In the SF Chronicle- this woman states that she got off the bus- and then next thing she remembered was being on all fours and bleeding from her mouth. The cops can't help her- because SHE doesnt even know what happened. She was oblivious to her surroundings, and as usual the only thing people take from this story is the misconception that the cops screwed up.

I'm sure he used pliers, it would be just about impossible to get the teeth out without using pliers...coming from someone who has worked in a dental office for many years. But does it really matter...however he got them out, it was horrible! Poor woman, and the police and insurance company should be ashamed of how they handled this.

Her lousy insurance company won't pay the hospital expenses. Of course not. They're not in the business of helping people - they're in business to make as much money as possible. This is a good example - as if another one was needed - of why we must have a "public option" in any health reform bill that passes.
Without a public option, we might as well just hand the keys to the treasury to the health insurance industry, and they will still stand between you and your doctor and dictate what can and what can't be done for your benefit.
I despise all insurance companies. They love to take your money but hate to pay off on your policies. Look what happened after Katrina - they weaseled out of those homeowners' policies any way they could.
God Bless America, folks! It's all about Greed, Money, and getting more and more and more, no matter how it affects the population as a whole.

It reminded me of a case in many years ago that happened in NYC. A robber quickly arm-wrapped an arm of a wealthy old lady with a few expensive diamond rings on her fingers. The man used a wire cutter to snip off her fingers and ran off with it. Sheesh. Some people are crazy.

The insurance didn't cover it because insurance doesn't cover certain injuries. When you go to the hospital or doctor with an injury, first thing they ask is - is this work related, crime or accident related? That's because workman's comp, victim's assistance, or auto/home insurance should cover it.
She SHOULD sue the police for negligence for not taking her statement for 7 months. Had they taken her seriously when it first happened, they might have found the guy or someone who would be willing to talk about it. At the very least, someone should be reprimanded for not allowing her to make a police report.
