Oh, so you think your morning commute is bad? Well, did a man follow you off the bus and steal your teeth this morning? Because that is pretty much the worst.As if you needed another reason to hate taking the bus, that's exactly what happened to Elena Aronson (pictured), a San Francisco native, whose pearly whites apparently resembled "the moon and stars" to the Muni's demented version of the Tooth Fairy.
The man looked Elena right in the face and told her he wanted her teeth, and he followed her off the bus, attacked her, and pried her two front teeth from her mouth to prove it.
After seven months of trying, police finally agreed to take a statement from Elena, allowing her to apply for money from the District Attorney's victim assistance program to help pay for the $11,500 of hospital bills she accrued after the attack that her insurance won't cover. And here we thought taking the bus was supposed to save you money.
Aronson provided enough detail to produce a sketch of the alleged culprit, but tells the San Francisco Chronicle that she doubts an arrest ever will be made.

That is truly disgusting and really just horrible...to have someone pry out your teeth with pliers...Oh my gosh, that poor lady, she will probably have nightmares forever. Shame on her insurance company for not covering her expenses.

I lived/worked many years in the SF Bay.. this is horrible this happened to this young woman. There are sooo many ppl on the streets that are mentally ill and a danger not only to themselves but those that live/work in SF.

That's horrible. It must have been incredibly painful to have her teeth pried out of her mouth. I can't believe the police didn't take what happened to her seriously. She was assaulted. That nut needs to be found soon. Who knows what he'll do to someone else.

Insurance won't pay? Exclusion? One more reason why the government should be working on insurance company reform rather than a healthcare plan. If we would not have to deal with such high premiums and a myriad of exclusions, healthcare would be affordable.

Peg-He didn't say that he believes the government should reform healthcare, he DID say that they should be working to fix issues already arisen in current healthcare insurance companies, who are currently the ones that are making it nearly impossible to get decent coverage. That's why we need single payer like ALL other civilized countries do. Our taxes that should and could easily pay for single payer healthcare are being robbed because the GOP has been trying to bankrupt america so they can finally KILL every so-called entitlement and public service out taxes are supposed to support... but NO, we are paying for unjust genocidal wars. Somehow, we can spend trillions on wars we can't win and should never have begun in countries that never attacked us. If some guy you are barely aware even exists lives next door to you and he turns out to be a killer of children do you think it is appropriate to kill everyone in the your entire state of residence because you "harbored" him? that's the kind of logic that makes your money go to unjust causes that kill millions, including our own troops instead of healthcare, housing and education. We are such chump to allow this to go on!!!

I guess my question is... what do they mean after months of trying the police finally took her statement? As in she couldn't or they wouldn't do it until her persistence was enough to make them do their job? How ridiculous if this has anything to do with police not cooperating with her. Glad they finally participated and hopefully she can make a full recovery mentally about the situation. Poor woman.

Then when they find the guy they can find out if this is true or not.4 people in New Jersey are being prosecuted for the consensual sale of a kidney, to me this is worse.But what else would any informed person expect of the police in San Francisco.

Stop screaming about insurance. More then likely the reason this was denied is b/c she went to the ER and THEY fixed her teeth and made a medical claim for a dental procedure. Medical insurance will deny anything that is dental related.

You know you made that up. You have no idea why she had to go to them for a service that was designed for exactly such occurrences and that she can not collect on if it was done for free at a hospital. Since hospital emergency rooms do not do extraction repairs for free (next time, try some research before you spout baloney) you have no positive contribution to make to the discussion and can keep the venom to yourself.

I have NEVER seen an EMERGENCY ROOM "fix" anyones teeth! LOL
I KNOW FOR A FACT if you HAVE insurance....they will STABALIZE YOU...and THEN HAVE YOU GO SEE YOUR DOCTOR. I was in a boat wreck and broke my knee, my foot and my toe. I had a laceration to THE BONE from my knee to my ankle that they sewed up, and a hole in my upper the thigh you could put a baseball in....that they packed with gauze......and sent me home the SAME NIGHT...with directions to go see my doctor in the morning! My doctor is the one who told me my knee, foot and toe was broken.
So I have to disagree with ya on THAT one!
