Sorry, women with "Real Housewives"-style orange tans, but your time in the sun is done. According to a British online makeup retailer, the popularity of the "Twilight" book and film series has women clamoring for pale makeup. Sales of super-pale foundation have doubled in the past month. You already know we think Kristen Stewart is the worst, and this trend just confirms it. Have you ever seen someone who wears foundation that's too pale? It looks ridiculous. (I present Exhibit A: Peter Facinelli as Carlisle.)
What's next, a spike in glittery powder sales so that you can sparkle in sunlight just like your favorite Cullen?
Leave the pale foundation to those of us who truly need it. We're practically see-through without it.

I read this early this morning, and reading about the possible increase of glitter made me think of this post on FMyLife.com:

"Today, I woke up and looked in the mirror and noticed that my face was covered in glitter. I asked my wife about it and she said she put it on me while I was sleeping so that I would sparkle like Edward from Twilight when I'm in the sunlight. FML"

It is completely impossible for me to find foundation that is too light for me! The lightest foundation out there is barely light enough for my skin.

I was pale before Twilight made it cool (my high school nickname was Pasty)! But I'm a little grateful for this because I've always had trouble finding foundation light enough for me (why are the ivory options always so pink? I don't want to look like Miss Piggy), so maybe now I'll have better luck.

Bleh! The sale of Glimmer Powder is obviously going to go up next...and if I see one more girl wearing fake fangs as a "fashion statement" I'm going to rip their canines out. Twilight stinks, plain and simple.

Thank heaven pale will never be in in my country - there is just too much sun in sunny South Africa. :p

OMG! I am a part of the "in" crowd! I have been pale all of my life so pale makeup is truly not necessary. I am a marshmellow color even when I am at my tannest during the summer months. Besides, what is the point in following makeup and fashion trends when they are everchanging! I prefer to do my own thing and incorporate some of the newer elements into it. So, do whatever is going to work for you!

I think the word this writer is looking for is "Fad" thats what teenagers go through.
And for lighter foundation , a family member of mine is lighter than Kristen.
"Thank God for makeup", cause she would straight out freak me out! Lighten up . Life is too short.........

I don't think that the author should take this spike in pale-makeup sales as a fad; It's more likely that women who are naturally pale are deciding to stop tanning and using bronzer and instead embrace their paleness. I doubt it means that women with naturally dark or olive skin are caking themselves in white makeup. If it takes a movie/moviestar to encourage women to embrace their paleness--a trait that we all know has been frowned upon in this age of tanness equaling beauty and wealth--then GOOD! I used to long to be darker than I naturally am- I used tanning beds about 3 times per week from age 17-20 and, lo and behold, I was diagnosed with malignant MELANOMA when I was 20. Melanoma, in case you don't know, is the most deadly form of skin cancer (in part because most people don't catch it in time), and the leading cause of cancer deaths for women ages 20-30. I didn't think it would happen to me, but it did, and now I'm choosing to love my lighter skin rather than punish it. I sincerely hope that this paleness "trend" will save the skin, and the lives, of the young women who think that being tan is the only way.

Psh...I can barely find a foundation light enough for my skin. With my family heritage being German, Dutch, and Norwegian, I am incredibly almost porcelain pale. I don't need anything to make be lighter! lol. and also, glitter. I love glitter! I'm 19 yrs old, and I didn't need twilight to make me like it. I've liked it since I was little, and it's just my thing. extreme glitter is not cool, like eyeshadow glitter and a little all over shine is good for me :) I just like it, and was kinda irritated when it got glitter got "cool" after twilight came out. lol :D

I just laughed at people putting it everywhere. They looked like disco balls.
PS- Glad to see someone else who appreciates what glitter can do when applied correctly

I've always been pale, mostly because I'm just naturally porcelain. Though the main reason I choose to be pale, not because I want to be a vampire (ugh) but because I just burn so easily. Pale makeup isn't pale enough for me, and what is called translucent looks gray on me. I also happen to like glitter... a lot. I do make up so it's a staple for some of my eye looks. The idea is to use glitter in a way that accentuates a particular feature, not to sparkle in the light like a disco ball.
I actually heard (I'm hoping) a guy scream that his mating call was "I sparkle in the sun." I'm all for guy-liner but he looked like he bathed in glitter.
