Maybe it's because "Bride Wars" is on heavy rotation on cable this month, but there's something about a bride being completely selfless that seems somehow harder to believe than Kate Hudson with blue highlights.Minnesota couple Charmagne Tessmer and her new husband Aaron Derichs actually rescheduled their wedding to watch the high school football game her little brother Ivan was playing in that same day. The game was an unexpected one -- her little bro's team made it to the state semifinals, and Saturday's game was scheduled to begin at 5:45, cutting it awfully close for a 3 p.m. wedding.
So they did what so few would do in that situation -- six days before the wedding they got on the phone and called all their guests to inform them that the wedding would be moved from three in the afternoon to eleven in the morning.
In the world of college football, it's almost required that brides-to-be consult the game schedule before setting a date. Parents will boycott the nuptials of their own children if the big day falls on the same day as a match.
In Norman, Okla., it's a running joke that no one will show up at your wedding if it's on a University of Oklahoma game day.
At Clemson University in South Carolina, brides eagerly await the release of the school's football schedule because only after games are announced can the university open up its conference center for weddings. Ceremonies and receptions can only happen when the team is out of town, because on game day the area is overrun by Tiger fans.
Compared to those fanatical football fans, Charmagne didn't make all that much of a sacrifice. Although Ivan's team ended up losing by one measly point, it's a game no one will ever forget; after all, how often is there a lady in a wedding gown cheering in the stands?

Thats a great family story, glad she and her family could show support for her brother. As for the spam and ads how do you get first post on so many stories? Is it worth all the annoying you cause? I know you are sick, please get mental help, we do not want your crazy phony postings, and you must be crazy to think we do.

No one said they moved the reception. They moved up the wedding time to 11:00. I'm sure they still celebrated at the same time for the reception.

Only in NY would they not allow this to happen. The rest of the country actually cares about people.

Typical redneck trash. You should be sprayed with DDT so that you won't reproduce.

The comment about Oklahoma University on football Saturdays is so true. I went to OU way back in the late 1960's [class of 1971] and lived in that town for nearly a decade. This is what football Saturday is like: For several hours prior to the game all roads of access to Norman, OK are converted by state police into one-way roads into town. Then anyone within a quarter mile of Owen Stadium is charging people to park their cars on the front lawn. [Nowadays it may be a half mile radius.] There is a sea of red clothing by upwards of 75,000 fans dressed head to toe in Big Red's colors. During the game Norman is a ghost town---everyone is in the stadium. Game over, a sea of red returns to the cars either in extreme jubilation or extreme near suicidal depression depending on who won the game. State Police then convert all access roads into one-way out of town highways until the traffic dissipates.
