Oprah Winfrey announced today that she'll be stepping down as the queen of daytime television in 2011. Oprah's decision to end the show at the 25-year mark was because "25 years feels right in my bones, and it feels right in my spirit. It's the perfect number, the exact right time."
Another possible reason why September 9, 2011, might be the "exact right time" is that she's launching the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN), her new cable outlet. We thought there might be a few others:
5. She was tired of telling people what to read.
4. Can you really top interviews with Mackenzie Phillips, Whitney Houston and Sarah Palin all in the same season?
3. It's getting too hard to make booming in-tro-DUUUUUUUUC-tions!
2. Even Oprah's tired of talking about Oprah.
1. According to the Mayan calendar, the world's ending in 2012 anyway. She might as well take a few months off.

I believe the world of feeding people outside information to help them resolve their problems (by encouraging them to read this or that book) is quickly coming to an end. Oprah knows it at some level, so she is smart enough to end her show--that was based on this old world paradigm--before the masses wake up and stop watching the show (with the subsequent drops in show popularity). Instead she is likely planning some new project that will be based on encouraging every human being to discover their own truth within (rather than in someone else's book).
I certainly would love to assist her in such an endeavor with my unconditional freedom process that I developed in the last ten years--a simple process of asking questions that help anyone become aware of the lies she/he has been perpetrating on themselves (such as the statement: I am not good enough, I need someone else's help) which have kept us small limited sick poor unhappy etc.

Oprah is a very respected and powerful woman. It is kind of starnge that she ends her show in 2011 and at the same time supports the book "New Earth" which discusses the mayan calendar and 2012. Could it be that perhaps she is getting ready for what could possibly happen? Could it be that she is just getting old? Who really knows, but ill guess only time will truly tell.
