On the plus side, it's going to speed up construction. On the downside, the workers building the Freedom Tower had better love Subway, because that's all they're going to be eating for a long, long time.Steel workers in New Jersey are presently working on a container that will house a Subway sandwich shop, restrooms, and offices and will sit atop a crane being used to build the Freedom Tower in New York City.
As the construction progresses, the crane will rise, and so, consequently, will the restaurant. This means that workers will no longer have to go all the way to the ground to buy their lunch, a measure that could save a lot of time when you're talking about a building that is ultimately going to be 105 stories tall.
Maybe it will also provide a chance for some of the portlier construction workers to embark on a Jared-style all-sandwich diet and lose some weight. Because if there's one kind of diet we can get behind, it's one that involves lots of sandwiches.
