Sarah dated Dan for a year before she became suspicious that something was going on between him and a female co-worker. Dan and the co-worker "also went to school together while I lived just outside the district and attended a different school," explains Sarah. Despite her misgivings, Sarah attended a beach bonfire party with Dan the night before she was supposed to go to homecoming with him as her date. The other girl was there. "I saw them making eyes at each other across the fire," she says. "But as if that wasn't bad enough, one of my friends (a boy) texted me and Dan accused me, loudly, of cheating on him. In front of a sea of unfamiliar faces I was ridiculed and called horrible names." And then Dan decided that it was time to reveal to Sarah that he'd been seeing his co-worker for the past three months. "While I stood there in shock, Dan gave her big sloppy kisses and then they left together."
But where did they go -- and how? "They left together in my car. He stole it, totaled it, then tried to sue me for 'putting him a malfunctioning vehicle out of spite.' My victory was that he was ordered to reimburse me what I had originally paid for the car. He still ripped me off $200. By then I didn't even care, I just didn't want to have to see him ever again."
