maryjblige-worldseriesLast week our blogger CJ criticized Mary J. Blige's decision to rock her shades while she sang the national anthem at the World Series. So was it or wasn't it a disrespectful gesture? We let you guys duke it out in the comments.

Newman says, "For all we know, she had a headache or cold or something. When I have a bad sinus headache, sometimes lights bug me. A hat is disrespectful. Getting angry at sunglasses seems kinda like we're reaching."

"Dang yo, it's the rocket's red glare," jokes VonRiesling. "What does wearing shades have to do with respecting anything? Ray Charles wears them all the time."

James suggests that it's just part of her signature style: "The sunglasses is a trademark type of thing ... Mary's been known for wearing sunglasses at night since 1992 ... she meant NO disrespect!"

Others, however, were put off by the unnecessary accessory. Crisann says, "I think that wearing sunglasses to sing the National Anthem was incredibly disrespectful." And Edie adds, "It was a complete abomination. About time some spoke up about it."

As CJ says, "Even if sunglasses are your 'thing' I think you can take them off for the GD national anthem."

What do you think?
Was sporting the shades during the national anthem offensive or not a big deal?
