We've seen it a hundred times -- you stop for a chicken sandwich, and the next thing you know somebody has stolen your miniature donkey. That's what happened to the Prestons when they stopped for a bite at a Chick-Fil-A in Mesquite, Texas while waiting for a donkey breeder to show up. Upon being thoroughly chicken-sandwiched, they came back out to the parking lot to find that thieves, nay bandits, had made off with both their truck and their trailer, which contained their precious miniature donkey, Sunny.
Sunny is only 6 months old and needs a special diet and shelter, since he's too young to fend for himself. The Prestons suspect that Sunny and the trailer have both been dumped so their pickup could be stripped for parts.
What kind of accidental donkey thieves have hearts cold enough to withstand the sad eyes of a desperate baby donkey? The Prestons are offering a reward for the safe return of their donkey, no questions asked.

What a little pompous A$$ you are! You obviously have no heart at all for animals. And... you're just jealous that you don't have sense enough to live in TEXAS!!! I bet you voted for Obama, too! How does it feel to be so WRONG on so many levels?

Poor lil donkey:( So sad there are people in this world who thrive off of ill will towards others. Stealing isn't the only action against others, spamming the comment sections & placing your opinions & reporting others because you don't like what they have to say is right up there with pitiful also. Sorry that your opinion isn't the only one that counts.

I feel bad and hope they can recover their donkey. I know how heart broken I would be if any of my animals were stolen. But at the same time I never would have let something like this happen. Anytime I've ever stopped at a store for food while trailering I take precautions to make sure my horse is safe. I realize with a trailer you can't always park where the vehicle can be in view. In that case someone can stay in the truck while the others get the food. You can never be too safe especially when it comes to the safety of your animals.

I don't understand why everyone fails to see that the poor little donkey has probably died as a result of this. It's not that funny - someone stole their truck. This happens all the time. In this case, the only thing that sets this story apart was that a little burro was in the trailer. And people are laughing about it. Why? The poor guy probably suffered a scary and painful (and needless) death. This writer's tone suggests they don't care. I don't understand.

I agree, I'd say they were set up. Someone was waiting and ready to make off with the truck.

ACTUALLY, IT WAS JUST SOME MEXICAN STEALING A NEW CAR FOR HIS WIFE. THE BURRO, NOT THE TRUCK!

Some of these nasty comments are simply ass-inine. This donkey DOES require a special diet...it is a show donkey, not your run-of-the-mill, throw-it-in-the-pasture-and-forget-it animal; I should know, I'm related to the owners! Furthermore, all of their animals are not only their livelihood; these miniatures are treated as pets...with a tremendous amount of love and affection. Instead of assuming they (stupidly) left the doors unlocked on the truck, tied the donkey outside the trailer and put up a sign stating "please steal me," people need to get outraged about stinking thieves who steal from hard working people because they are too damned lazy to work! For all those who think Texans are cousin-marrying, ridge running types, why don't you try coming down here and saying it our face?
