We need to start checking out Life.com more often. The photo magazine, known nowadays mostly for their grocery store checkout special editions documenting 9/11 or a tsunami, is keeping itself relevant with tongue-in-cheek slideshows like the caption-driven "Jessica Alba Is Bored" or the educational "30 Dumb Inventions." And while either of these can be found elsewhere on the Net -- say Perez Hilton or Cracked -- these galleries are far superior than other Web lists because, dammit, this is LIFE magazine! They've been around since 1883! They brought us that adorable photo of the sailor and the nurse sucking face in Times Square! They have real authority. And it's just funny to see a "serious" publication (even though its roots are in satire and social commentary) write captions like this.
